Hi there. I've been on the banting diet for a month now and the weight is not budging! I don't know what to do anymore... Sad

I had tests done and there's nothing wrong with me. I tried shakes, potions, starving, exercised myself to death and nothing is happening!

Banting was my last option and even that is not working for me.

I'm a female, 38years old. My weight has been gradually increasing the past 3 years. I have 20kg's to lose.

Anyone with some advice?

Do you log everything. Do you eat enough real food

Hang in there. Are you weighing your food and really tracking everything you are eating? I was not losing weight and finally realized that I had "forgotten" to log the snacks I was having just before bed.

wow you must be a scientific miracle ………………………...or your not being honest with yourself or us...………….weight doesn't increase by itself you can be in 3 states only....weight loss- weight maintainance- weight gain all are dictated by your caloric intake vs caloric output nothing else

While spacey48's advice is unnecessarily sarcastic, he/she is getting at the right thing.

If you're gaining weight, you are eating more calories than you are burning. Start honestly logging and weighing everything that you're eating and drinking and you'll undoubtedly see that.

I strongly recommend giving up the fad diets and doing things to extreme - it's not sustainable. The only reason these diets and shakes may work at times is because they achieve a calorie deficit through some kind of restriction. There's no secret hack in them and no magic bullet. They're making you do crazy things to achieve that deficit though, it's hit and miss because there's no proper logging with those diets (they rely on rules rather than logging) and, really, it's all completely unnecessary - there are much easier, more satisfying and more sustainable ways of achieving a deficit.

Your diet should just be about good nutrition and foods you enjoy - a way of eating that you would be happy to stick with for the foreseeable future and that keeps you within a calorie budget that you set. Aim for a reasonable calorie deficit, be diligent with logging/weighing your food to ensure you're on track, get enough sleep and drink lots of water. It doesn't need to be more complicated than that. You certainly don't need to cut out any food groups.

Stop looking for quick fixes, design for the long term and be reasonable with your expectations.
