During the induction phase are you allowed gravy? or for that matter any other sort of side sauce to make the food taste better such as salad creams or soy sauce or curry sauces.I know I have to remain under 20 grams of carbs a day but can you use some of them to make the food taste better?

I've never seen a gravy that was made w/o flour or cornstarch so thats a big NO. There are low carb sauces you can make.....but stay away from gravy. There are low carb thickening products that can be used once you are no longer on the Induction phase.

Soy sauce is fine, but you still need to watch the carb count. I suggest you make your own salad dressing because there is usually sugar in the store brands. I have a Ceasar dressing in my menus that I use all the time. Its less then 2 carbs in an entire cup. There are low carb dressings you can purchase, but I personally prefer to know exactly what's in my food. Aslo, cream is fine. I believe you are allowed 2 TBSP/day. It could be 4. This I am not 100% sure about, so to be safe, I'd stick with 2 for now. And remember, as far as your sweetner, only 3 Splenda/day.

Ok, I just double checked. Its 2-3TBSP of heavy or light cream allowed per day.

OK thanks that limits my tea and coffee intake even more tho. Its a big learning curve takes a long tme to get it all ironed out really. I think ive done ok for a first day and can stay on induction longer if i need to. Its learning that really only happens as u prepare the foods and work out what accounts to what along with what tastes good or bad as a combo. xx Thanks again for the advice everyone.

And the system is stupidly easy on paper(CICO). The hard part is adhering to it. The more you do it, the easier it gets though.
