Congrats on the decision to lose weight. My son is about 8 months now and has 5 teeth! I stopped breastfeeding when he was 4 months b/c I went on the pill and my milk supply was affected. He was a very demanding baby when it came to him eating so the bottle was really easier. I pumped milk for him but after the pill I wasn't able to. He was actually bottle fed for the first 2 weeks b/c he was tongue tied at birth and that didn't get fixed till he was 4 days old, and then I ended up back in the hospital the week later with a kidney stone! Oh joy!

I have an 8 month old daughter and were still breastfeeding. Its been ok breastfeeding and losing weight. To be honest I think it really helps because your burning extra calories. There was a while there where I thought maybe I wasnt getting enough calories because so I really made a consious effort to eat all the food I was alotted. I do recommend staying above 1200 calories for the most part to ensure your supply is good. Although some days thats easier then others. Since I started the weight has been coming off rather quick but has just started to slow down now. I think its slowing down because she's nursing much less and her solid intake is increasing. Plus we started partial weaning because Im going back to work when she's 11 months and I want her to be able to take a bottle. She's just getting one bottle a day just before bed. She refuses to nurse before bed anyways for some reason.
Anyways CONGRATS on the baby and the decision to lose weight!

I'd reccomend getting as much protein as you can. Protein is used to build muscle and is much less likely to convert to stored energy (fat). It is good for the baby and it will help you burn more calories. One thing I do to get a big protein hit is mix eggwhites with skim milk. Its pure protein and as long as you have eqaul or more milk than eggwhites in the mix you won't taste any difference. I like to add a touch of coffee and non-dairy creamer to give it some extra flavor.

Toning up the belly
Abdominal fat does not respond to area specific training. The only way to reduce it is to eat less calories than you expend over a long period of time.
