Hi guys - I am new to the site. I am finished with phase 1 tomorrow! I have an "allergy" to wheat and gluten. Does anyone have any suggestions for substitutions? My diet is already SO restricted! If you have any thoughts or recipes I would be THRILLED!

Off to phase 2!

I am not celiac (show up as negative on blood test) but I am allergic to wheat. When I ate wheat regularly I had migraines and digestive problems, and I tended to be anemic. Now that I don't eat it I no longer have digestive problems, I am not anemic and I never get migraines.

The diets that work the best for me are low-carb diets like South Beach and Atkins. I don't know much about Fat Smash, but you might read up on other diets to see what is right for you. I personally like the low-carb ones because there are lots of non-wheat/gluten options and substitutions.

People that are allergic to wheat tend to become allergic to other grains too if they eat them in excess. I have done extensive reading on the subject. I eat rice and corn very sparingly because I don't want to become allergic to those as well.

Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Well I don't know what you are/arent' allowed on fat smash but I had a roommate that also had Celiac Disease. She loved the Cactus Potatoes(think baked slices of potatoe instead of nachoes...but the same toppings) at Boston Pizza. She also found a large selectioin of gluten free foods at Save-On-Foods. She used to bake alot with this specail flour she made out of rice, soy and corn flour. Tasted rather good in muffins and such. Other than that she experimented with new ideas and recipes for meat, rice and veggies. If your looking for a variety, getting some Deer or Bison meat would help. Hope this helps Smile

Here are two websites that have all gluten-free items. You have to look through for what is on your diet, but everything there is gluten-free.

I have had good luck ordering from both of these sites. =)

I've been gluten-free for three years now, and I just started (bought the book a few hours ago, start phase one tomorrow) the Smash Fat diet because it really is gluten-free friendly.

What specifically are you looking for?

Drink lots of water. If you can, try drinking the Benefiber packets in your bottled water. It keeps you feeling full which helps during the detox phase and it helps with bloat, belly fat, and energy.
