Lacking Motivation

Hi, new to FATSECRET. I joined in hopes to find motivation. I am so lacking in that department. Don't know what my problem is but I need a kick in the rear. It is like I know exactly what needs to be done to lose weight but I can't get myself to do it. Is it really suppose to be this hard?

Honestly, I think it is only hard until we get in to that mindset of "nothing will stop me." However, until that happens it really does seem to be brutally hard.

If it was easy, there wouldn't be sites like this. There also wouldn't be so many people making money off of diet pills. I lose my motivation from time to time, but there are lots of great people here who will try to help you find it again. Message me any time.

The great thing about a new meal and fitness plan (Diet is such a negative word nowadays) is that it gets easier as you become accustomed to new foods and daily routines. That's what I hold on to anyway. That and how I will feel once fit and healthy.

hi, my motivation, is my family Im at risk for type 2 diebeties and heart issues, So I need to be healthy for my family so we can have a happy life with not worring about what i can do and what i cant, i want to see my son grow up, and if i have a heart attack i dont want to put my family threw that if i can do something about it now. also we want to add to our family so i need to get to a good weight so i can. I had bought an alfit that was too small and every week i try it on to see how much more i have to go and every time i get more excited. so good luck.Very Happy

Hi, Licha. At my highest I was 310, and my goal is also 150 so I know what it's like to have a lot of weight to lose. It's really hard to get started when it seems like such a daunting task. Try thinking about it in smaller chunks. You would be amazed by how much better you will feel with 10 lbs gone, and then 10 more, and so on.

Go to the store and pick up 10 lbs of meat. 10 pounds is really a lot to have removed from your body. Then think about how meat is more dense than fat, so the fat you lost actually takes up more space than the meat you are holding. You will get a sense of pride for this mini goal, along with feeling better, and it might help spur you to keep going.
