Menstrual cycle and Atkins

My goal during "that time" is just to maintain. Really focus on your water intake and maybe cut back some carbs during your period, but make sure you are getting enough fiber. Sugar and insulin interfere with proper hormone funcion so we become even more sensitive during that time. By eliminating some extra carbs, our bodies can regulate themselves better. Dr. Atkins only mentions not to start induction the week of your period, other than that I just noticed some references to the sugar-hormone (generally speaking) connection. If you find it stalls your weight loss, just be patient and learn to expect it. That is how I cope.

Thank you for replying. I was getting to think it was just my problem. When you say watch your water intake. Do you think I should increase it or reduce it? I am drinking about 2 1/2 qts a day.

It sounds like you're drinking enough. I'm not that consistent, but I HAVE to be during my period or I really feel a difference.
