I started this diet to lose weight back in Jan 2018. I need support can't get it at home so I came on here. Not happening.SO I am starting my own post. Sometimes we just need a little encouragement. Sometimes we just need someone to listen without criticizing, a shoulder to cry on as the old saying goes. This is tough when you don't have any moral support. Don't want any smart remarks just offer some advise, what has worked for you may not work for another, but give the option to try it for ourselves. You can be reg diet, low carb, veg or vegan it doesn't matter on this post. Lets share and help each other Good Luck and hope to see followers real soon. PS: not on here every day but will get back with you ASAP Oh and another thing: NO FOUL LANGUAGE

I just now realized I have not posted my food on here for a couple days. Have been posting it on Myplate because it is easier with more foods in their library, will post tomorrow if I get time. Weight still at 215 though

This statement is not a negative response or comment, just need to vent and see if anyone has any ideas!
I lost 16 lbs last year between just before thanksgiving and just after christmas, avg 2 lbs a week but i wasn't on any kind of diet, actually I was eating a lot of junk food at the time, was craving chips and homemade onion dip or chips and sour cream or popcorn. I always gain at least 10 lbs during thanksgiving to christmas holiday, not a lb last year, then just before the new year the weight loss stopped. No gain no loss went from 232 to 216. So i decided to get on a low carb diet because my doc said I really needed to lose weight. So I did, started the LCHF diet Jan 4 2018 at 216 gained 2 lbs on a healthy diet put me up to 218. In 2 more days I will have been on the LCHF ( Not KETO messes with my body and mind) diet for 60days or 8 weeks.
So lets recap what the doctors told me . I AM FAT , because I eat to much junk food etc. We will show you how to lose weight. You are eating the wrong kinds of food, to much processed and junk food and to many starchy carbs. Cut this stuff out and YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT EASILLY they said, it will be almost effortless they said
"" THEIR PLAN "" The docs say give up sugary soft drinks and you'll lose weight, ok Gone: my Mtn Dew gone, but no weight lose
Give up processed sweets and you'll lose weight, Ok Gone: no more homemade cookies and cakes and fudge or candy bars: weight lose NONE
Give up chips and snacks and you'll lose weight, OK gone : no more chips and popcorn ( BOTH MY WEAKNESS) and salty snacks : weight lose none
Give up starchy foods they say and you will lose weight: ok gone, potatoes, corn, bread, pasta etc. : weight loss none
SO I DID WHAT THEY SAID AND I GAVE UP EVERYTHING that THEY THE DOCTORS SAID WAS THE "REASON" why "I" AM FAT
RESULTS : TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS AFTER 8 WEEKS
DRUM ROLL ------- STARTED on Jan 4 2018 at 216 lbs today March 2 2018 NOW 215 TOTAL LOSS 1 LB
Gave up everything and I lose 1 lb. I think the next time a doctor tells me it is what I am eating I am gona punch them in the nose. March 2 2018 I can't understand and it gets to me sometimes why no matter what I do, how many cals I cut ( I eat between 1200 & 1600 cals a day) or how many carbs i cut out ( 95% of all my carbs come from green veggies ) I can't lose weight. If anyone has any advise I would love to hear it. Sorry for the sob story, just needed to vent. BUT, you know what, I am not going to quit. I like the foods, I feel better, my clothes are fitting better, not sure why I haven't lost any fat around my waist which is where 90% of my weight is, but I am gona stay the course.
Anybody else: NOW IT IS YOUR TURN
GOOD OR BAD WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY!!!!

I can't think of one thing to tell you, except keep at it and see if the weight starts to come off. I have lost and gained the same 1.5 lbs. numerous times in February. So let's hope March is better.

Thanks, wishing you the best of luck. I started a 16/8 and 18/6 fast Feb 28 . I hope I got those figs right I fast 16 to 18 hrs and then eat my food in a 6-8 hr window. Hasnt been hard at all . Did this in 2007 due to illness and lost 51 lbs in 2.5 months. Hope it works again. Only difference between then and now is I am eating healthy now. I broke over today and ate a candy bar, first regular candy bar since Jan 4 2018. Now I have the jitters, worse than caffeine, must be the sugar rush.

Hey. So glad I found this thread. Same here. I need support and I can't get it at home. In fact home is a nightmare for the support I need. I was told a few weeks ago that I had a terminal disease and in order to manage it to maximize lifespan, I didn't have a choice but to lose 20 lbs before my next specialist appt in 3 months. I've been walking at lunchtime at work, and I have cut my calorie intake to about 1600-1800 cals a day. I am supposed to be on a low sodium, extremely low carb diet, and that leaves very little options for a meat and potatoes guy like me. I was also told no meat protein, although a small amount of fish is ok. So far in 2.5 weeks, I have lost 10 lbs. I hope I can continue. I used to eat Pizza 1-2 times a week, cheeseburgers, steaks, nachos, etc. I really desperately miss it. Hard to imagine eating grass (ie salads) for the rest of my life, but I have to constantly remind myself I am doing it for my 2 little kids.

UPDATE: started the intermittent fasting on Feb 28 2018 at 215 was at 215 from jan 20 almost 6 weeks, am now down to 210.0 it does work and I am not hungry. Have to make my self eat now. What a change from wanting to eat all the time to having to make myself eat. Who would of thought that cutting carbs and short term fasting would get my cravings under control. Today has been the hardest day though. I have a severe sinus infection and feel like crap. Not in the mood for cooking, I feel like yuck!!!

https://youtu.be/bML9D_I6JesHope this link works. I have been limited on my exercise. I get exhausted quickly doing standing exercises and have to quit after just a few minutes Found this today online for a lady on myplate. She is wheelchair bound and was inquiring about exercise. This man is great. Love his spirit. I did the workout myself sitting in a chair. Made it all the way through, but let me tell you it was a workout. Man did I feel good afterwards. Gona do this every day till I get my energy and strength back.

Felt like yuck yesterday. The sinus infection only getting worse. Now I have nausea Tried to eat my regular meals as usual but the fat consistency just made me sick. Ate crackers and ice cream to try and settle my stomach. Gained 2 lbs, oh well guess it will come back off after I get back on the plan. Right now to sick at my stomach to care. Think the antibiotics have a lot to do with it. Still got in a workout this morning , that made me feel energized

Hello all! Just found this site, and started using it. I joined a diabetes prevention program at our local Y. The goal of the program is to lose 7% of your body weight in a year, and to work your way up to exercising 30 minutes for 5 days a week (you don't need to do the 30 min all at once - it can be split up during the day)
We have to track what we eat (calories and fat only), along with how many minutes we've exercised a day. So far, it's been working for me - the weight is starting to come off, but not all at once. I am on track for the 7% in a year though, so I've been telling myself that slow is better than nothing!
Is anyone else just writing down what they ate along with the calories and fat grams? I kind of feel like a weirdo because I'm not following a 'packaged' diet!

Every body is different, and our WOEs to lose weight are different. I am T2D and carb-intolerant, so I eat keto. Others do fasting, IF, calorie counting, low fat, etc etc etc . . .
For weight loss, what you eat, is far more important than the exercise you do. For low carbers, weight training is said to be most effective for weight loss.
Eating keto has helped me lose over 35 pounds since July 2017.

Hi Bnewbee, I was doing so well a few years ago. I set small goals, no more than 20 pounds at a time and was within 2 and 1/2 pounds of my goal! And then so many stressful things happened and continue to happen and I'm still under a great deal of stress. Major medical things happening to my family. The need to spend thousands of dollars on major home repairs (septic, furnace, mold removal, ceiling replacement, you know the low cost stuff - ugh), a death in my family, new stress in my job. All this leads to me stress eating, not sleeping and then just shutting down with no energy. So I'm back to 1/2 a pound under my original start weight and have to try again. It's frustrating but I am hopeful. So that's my story. Glad to see from your posts you're starting to make the progress you were hoping for. Good luck!
