I thought last night that I was reaching a Ketogenic state but this afternoon I know it. Definitely it's less than the best feeling but I'm very happy to be here.

Does anyone have suggestions for transitioning through quickly?

Sleep more. Drink lots of water, herbal tea, bone broth, whatever keeps you hydrated. Supplement magnesium and potassium. Choose fats wisely. Read early journal entries of people who've been doing this consistently for a while. (Bluecoaster's are excellent.) Don't restrict kcal intake as much as FS suggests for weight loss until you're keto-adjusted. Stay off the scale. I took weekly midsection and backside selfies instead; things start moving pretty quickly, in ways not shown in scale numbers. All that just in my experience; other things work better for other people.

I feel dehydrated but I think I'm through at least the worst of it. The headache persists but of course it could be the hydration issue. My calorie intake has been slightly over the RDI and the weight is still going down instead of up. Thanks T8U9!

@T8U9 has got some good advice there - let me add a couple of things: 1) caffeine can help with the headaches, but try not to imbibe after lunch or it'll mess with your sleep patterns; 2) FatSecret's RDI has always been a little HIGH (for me, at least) - go to other online calculators and find an average and start from there. Let us know how best to help you, okay?

Headaches and dizziness are signs that you need more salt. Try having a cup of broth or bouillon morning and night, that's usually enough.

The doctors say adaptation to keto takes 2 to 6 weeks.

yup you have what is known as the Keto flu and it is from electrolite loss. What I use and works great. is when ever I feel the need I get a glass of water add.. A bit of lemon juice and stevia for the tase factor and add to this some salt (Sodium) No Salt SUbstitute or just Cream of Tartar (Potassium) and take it with a magnseium tablet. Instant keto gatoraide or sports drink if you like. I know sounds like it tastes like crap BUT when you are in Ketosis your body will crave these electrolites and will taste not too bad at all.
