I don't understand why i am not losing any more weight! i am always below the 50g of carbs even some days around 30g ????? Calories under 1050 even under 1000 some days. And i also do some exercise and weights ! I thought i would lose 1 pound a day on the low carb diet .

Does anyone have any input on this ....... thank you in advance !

EDIT Dec. 3/16 : For those of you who are reading my first post on my thread i have since then realised that it is probably unrealistic to think that you can lose 1 pound a day ! so please just give me information on low carb dieting/what is working for you and ideas as right now that is what i am trying . If it doesn't work out then i will try something else in 30 days .. we are all different in losing weight and need to experiment and find out what is right for us ! Good luck in your weight loss journey !

Not sure if that's even possible to lose 1 lbs per day, that would require you to burn an extra 3K calories per day. Depending on your current weight and fat% 50g of carbs may still be too much.

No need to insult someone ..... I guess you haven't seen online and on some health talk shows that say that you can lose 1 pound a day on some type of diet .....Like the no calorie food diet that a chef is promoting and there are others that are claiming this ! which yes it might be ridiculous but hey i am sure i am not the only one that tries any type of diet to try to succeed ! Let's encourage each other !

an extremely obese person 250lbs plus can probably metabolize 2lbs of fat a week for a while.....

1lb a week isa pretty good base rate especially if you are not THAT heavy..you will be lucky to do more than that which is actual fat...maybe water depending on what you eat but that is meaning less

people who try extreme 'diets' tend to mess up and not sustain any sort of healthy weightloss...this is a marathon not a sprint and then you have to maintain for life

Losing a pound a day is very dangerous; I know it can be tough because we want instant results; you just have to remember you will get there. I am on a low carb diet and I try to keep my carbs at 130 a day; my calorie intake fluctuates. My doctor told me, and this was just the other day at my appointment, 1/2 a pound to 1 pound a week is what is best; she said if you lose to quickly, not only do you damage your muscles, you will put the weight on quickly as soon as you go off the diet and you may not lose at all; so with that being said, journal your food, continue to follow the low carb but increase you carbs. You can eat veggies and fruit, drink water, but make sure you eat healthy. You should see your doctor who could probably refer you to a nutrionist who can also help. The people here on FS are wonderful, they are encouraging and supportive. Don't give up, but please do your weight loss the healthy way! Good luck! And - remember to laugh because laughing burns calories

There are so many online sites and shows regarding weight loss saying that you can lose more then a pound a week and also i see so many members on here losing more then that in a week !

Yes your right support and encouragement goes a long way in the success of weight loss ! and also we need to have patience and laugh a bit !

Good luck and thanks for your reply !

1 pound a day sounds very arbitrary and where does your health factor in that equation???
Also to consume 1050 calories per day seems very low to be sustainable, you would have to be the size of a child for that to be enough to maintain your body in a healthy way.
This diet thing is a marathon not a sprint, so why the rush?

People who want to change their weight and body composition will do good to think about their new way of eating as a long term life style choice rather than a temporary and unsustainable quick fix.
Else you are setting yourself up for some very unhappy repeating loops.

Eating enough calories and educating oneself about good vs bad foods and then replacing crappy food with the good foods one enjoys is the key.

You are all stuck on the " 1 pound a day weight loss " that i stated in my post on my thread . As i have stated it was unrealistic of me to think that it could be possible to achieve that goal ! Now can we please move on ........ thanks !

I have decided to do the low carb diet for at least 30 days and see how it goes ! if it doesn't work out then i will try another type of weight loss !

We are all different in the manner in which we lose weight so we need to experiment ! You have your way and other people have there way !

I really wanted some input on the low carb diet / input as how was it going for you and what were you doing and what was your success rate but nevermind i will google it and ask a professional in that field !

Let's encourage and support each other whatever way we choose to lose weight !

I have been LC for almost 2 years. After much research on what would be best for ME I chose it because so many said they weren't hungry when eating LCHF. The biggest reason I failed in the past was hunger. I would get so hungry I would eat eat eat and then throw in the towel. Another reason I liked LC was I like meat and veggies. I like cheese. I like pork rinds. It was a great fit. I lost quite a bit the first month (but I had a lot to lose overall) and then I dropped pretty faithfully, 2 lbs a week. I was VERY strict with my diet and stayed under 20 net carbs a day. I am also what I call a "volume" eater. I like to eat a lot of whatever I'm eating so I also set my calories at 1200 a day to be aware of how much was going in. I know not everyone LC watches calories, but for ME, I HAVE to. I weigh/log everything. Over time I have tried the egg fast, the fat fast, Intermittent Fasting, and the 5:2. When I first started I ate 3 meals a day, but now I usually eat just one. You are right in that we each need to figure out what works for the individual. I love that people post THEIR experiences (good and bad) with ideas for me to try. Good Luck!

Stop fretting over how many pounds one can lose in a day or week or whatever. Just establish and maintain a calorie deficit and you will be fine. Oh and losing a pound a day is plausible and doable, but one cannot "damage muscles" in this manner.

Your body gets used to the same routine; whether it's diet or exercise, and excepts it as normal. Change your diet and exercise routine every couple of weeks and it'll help you lose. Switch your dinner and lunch meals. Change your cardio routine every two weeks or even weekly.

Have you thought about the "New Atkins for a New You" plan? It is versy low carb (closer to 15 or 20 net carbs/day), the carbs you do eat come from certain allowed veggies and you do not need to limit your calories. If you limit your calories on low carb plans it is my experience that your body goes into starvation mode and does not let you lose the weight. There is tons of free information on the website Atkins.com I have used this system myself and it worked really well for me. I promise that I don't work for them or get anything for saying this, it's just my own personal experience.
