A lot of damage can be done in a couple days. Are you depriving yourself of foods you like only to binge? Work in foods you love while learning moderation. Work them into your calorie goals and you may not feel the urge to binge.
Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals.

I am 66 years old with hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia. Started Weight Watchers in the beginning of December 2015 and Curves in April. Yes, there are good weeks and bad weeks, good days and bad days but it takes patience and time to learn how to eat and how not to give up. I am down 25 lbs, I have 15 to go. I am slow as a turtle but I am learning life skills not just how to diet. Be patient and don't give up. You can do this.

I promise you, if you quit eating anything with wheat in it, you will feel better! I suffered from suicidal depression for over 30 years. A few weeks with no bread? Gone, hypothyroidism - much improved, fibromyalgia/pain - gone! What have you got to lose but a dependency on the additives they put in our food and pain?

jmrtam, absolutely! I am 55 and cannot believe how slow it is going. Or maybe I was used to how fast it went many years ago! I'm lucky if it's over 1 pound a week, and yes, yes, I know slow and steady wins the race (maybe!) but it can be frustrating. I've lost 13 pounds so far, and am focused and determined to lose at least another 25 by the end of November. Before, I would've said at least 30 in 3 months but now, not so much.

I have the same problem .lve been reading things on the Internet about hormone in balance and estrogen belly .l have been reading about suppliments lve never been a big fan of tablets and suppliments till l looked in the mirror one day and didn't like who was looking back at me ..some old women with a turkey knock jowls and sagging skin .so l spent time reading and looking up things on the Internet .My turkey neck has gone completely thanks to exercise from u tube and every morning when l drive to work l pull my faces stick out my neck l get some funny looks lol.l also take liquid cologen and my skin and hair is amazing .lm 60yrs old in Feb 2017 .so anyway this loosing wieght when your older slimmertea is good from Holland and Barrett it's green tea and boy it makes you excersie lve never run so fast.lol l have been reading about the benifit of spirulina and l have just ordered it in powder form to add to shakes there's some other powders lm looking at too ..Apparently spirulina helps with balancing your hormones and as you get older you store eastronge and your body goes into fat storing mode and no matter how much u diet or exercise it won't help
Look up estrogen belly..hope it helps ...lm going to give it a go take care good luck

Hi Im 55 and its not a diet for me, its a life style. Very little foods, no sugar, very little bread and only whole grain organic bread read the label. lots of green leafies fruits and vegies good sources of protein. Real food. Im not loosing weight very fast about 1 pound a month, usually a little more. It is hard to eat this way when there is so many unhealthy choices out there. Learning to eat health should make us fell better long term. Good luck and blessing of love to all of you.

Hello everyone. New to the site and its groups etc. Anyone on LCHF? I am 69+ and find cooking from scratch for hubby and myself a bit of a nightmare ( he has always eaten what whe wants and has gained nothing in 44yrs of marriage ) concerned LCHF will make him lose weight so have to do similar meals so we seem to eat the same! So hard doing rice, potatoes etc but refraining myself.
Like the lady I am loosing minimally and have just had over a week being stupid! Had shingles and until then had kept middle age spread at bay, easily. Felt rough, hardly ate and didn't leave the house for 1month, took another 2months to regain my strength.
Do not know if it was the medication I was given or lack of exercise/housework etc but in that time I gained 28lb and I CANNOT shift them but over the 10yrs since I have gained another 14lb. Easy for those who were slim/enjoyed excersising to go back to their youthful abilities but weak ankles are my downfall so cannot run or do High Intensity trading etc. Swimming, I love but low blood pressure causes me to faint after swimming so unhappy about continuing that. 5'3" so I have a lot to lose.
Any help/encouragement gladly recieved.

I definitely feel your pain! I am 56 and have been very strictly eating LCHF (via Diet Doctor plan) and I have only lost 7 pounds since the last week of January!! I have had to do intermittent fasting every day (16:Cool and limit the daily net carb intake at or below 20 grams. I also have karate classes 3 days per week and walk every day during breaks at work. Prior to menopause, I could lose 30 pounds in about 3 months, now it seems I can't even lose 10!

Are you tracking your ketone levels? In order to lose weight, you must have a ketone level of 1.5 - 3.0 mmol.

How often are you weighing yourself? Weight fluctuates all the time from morning to night, whether you have had any drinks or foods, etc. Be sure to track your measurements for patterns and always weigh at the same time. It also helps to measure yourself and see if you have lost inches vs pounds. I lose weight in my chest first and then waist and hips last!

I am 59 and I have similar experiences. This is day 2 of Fat secret, and I love the app. I have been grain free since Jan. with no weight loss. This is week 2 of Keto for me. I have loss 5 pounds, and am just beginning to try Intermittent Fasting. Wow, I remember when just being more active would do the trick! This sucks!!

I am devastated this week. I have been steadily losing up to 1 & 1/2 pounds per week and haven't deviated from my diet plan. But this week nothing at all. I can't cut down any further on calories or I'll have no energy at all. I am having loads of protein foods. I am less than half way to my goal. I walk for and do resistance band exercise. Any advice.

Smitten, relax and keep doing what you have been doing. Weight loss is not a linear process. Sometimes your body needs to take time to adjust, sometimes you hold more water. Give yourself a couple of weeks without making any drastic changes and see what happens. You will continue losing weight eventually if you stay on the plan. The only mistake you can make is fall off the wagon completely. Don't do that. Be patient and stay on the plan. The more weight you lose the harder it gets to go at the same speed. We all get frustrated every now and then, so please feel free to vent. We are here to support you. Just don't quit.

Perhaps a change in the exercise routine and confuse the body. It may just be getting used to what you are doing and accept it as the norm. Cutting calories isn't always the answer. You still need them to do your thing but anything drastic and your body will go in survival mode and store the fat

I'm 55 next month. I've been on 5:2 for about two months. It really works. About 500g per week. 2 Fast days - up to 500 calories per day. Other 5 days consume up to your TDEE (usually about 2,000 for women). You can eat whatever you like - within your calorie allowance, but of course selecting certain foods makes it a bit harder. Exercise helps but only a little bit. Here's the website: https://thefastdiet.co.uk/

Thank you Ingria, RcKc and BriggsR2 for your support and advice. I am following a high protein, low carb CSIRO diet. ( i am a pescotarian. That is Vegetarian with eggs dairy and fish) Couldn't face another tin of salmon. I am determined to keep on track. I am going to Tasmania for 4 days at the end of the week so I will "mix it up" here with plenty of opportunities to walk in national parks. Also plenty of local seafood and produce....oooaahhhh. Talking with other people in the same situation really keeps me on board, Thanks again.
