I'm curious on everyone's feedback. Do you think it is dumb to buy a outfit (that you can't fit into currently) as an incentive? I keep seeing outfits that I'm like oh.. only if I was.. but I can't figure if it would be motivational or am I setting myself up for a letdown?

It's a great incentive and reward! Just be sure it's an outfit that only needs several lbs lost to fit well. Anything more may end up being a let down and waste of $. It's all about baby steps, besides once that one fits you, you can get a new incentive outfit! Very Happy

I don't think it's dumb at all....BUT - I've held on to some outfits that I used to love and couldn't wear anymore. When I hit a weight that I could wear them, they didn't fit the way I wanted. Aparently the sands of time have shifted Wink

I think it's great if it's just one special thing and you're close. I have a pair of pants that are close and I hung them up on the back of my door so I can see them as a visual reminder. On the other hand, a closet full of clothes that are from a past life; fashion moves on, so should you. Let them go, either donate them or put them up for sale on a site like poshmark and buy new clothes with the money you make.

I think a reward system is great, as in the past I have always rewarded myself with food...every However, I think it would be fun and more rewarding to set goals like a 20lb loss to go shopping with a budget and trying on clothes and seeing how they fit to your new seeing something on a hanger may not look as good as you imagine and might disappoint you...but think how much fun it is to try on new clothes a smaller size...and seeing how it fits your I have learned that sometimes, what it looks like on a hanger doesn't always look good on, and something I would never try... looks great on...go figure...

Yep...I agree. We set up a "20 lb" reward with pics, new clothes, stuff like that.(wife wants a tattoo, don't blame her, may get one also).
But, by summer......whole new wardrobe it is. She has dropped from a 14 to a 9! In 2 months! From Dec, I am down 43 clothes are just tents now!

It is a great idea-i agree with other poster that it should be something that you are "almost" into and just one thing that you really like. When clothes are too big, get rid of them..that way you feel like you cant go back, you have nothing to wear! Smile I only kept one pair of pants from my initial weight , ever now and then I put them on just to see how far I have come.

The percentage is not based on weight, but on calories. Fat has more calories for the same weight.
