Hi,
I've been on Atkins for about 2-3 weeks now. I purchased some Ketone strips to test, and I test dark pink (at about 3.0). Out of curiosity, I had my boyfriend try them as well, and he also tested dark pink.
Does this mean my strips are broken? I don't think it's possible for him to be in ketosis; he eats a TON of carbs (sugary cereal for breakfast, usually cinnamon toast crunch), sandwich with fries or soup in a breadbowl for lunch, and pasta dishes for dinner. He also snacks throughout the day on carb loaded foods.

Ketone strips are not very accurate and for that reason, Atkins has not recommended their use for several years. For the most part if you stay within your net carb range you will be in ketosis. if you are losing weight and/or inches, you are probably in ketosis. The ketone strips are a waste of money for weight loss.

I agree, K-strips only measure how much ketos were eliminated in your urine. True to test ketosis is in blood, but very hard & $$ to do.
