Hello all, my name is stacey and I am new to this site and can use any advice on snacking, good carbs, and exercise. I usually try to do some of the exercise programs on cable, but some are not do able for me yet. I currently am using 5lb weights and just doing lifts and walking. I had lost a bunch of weight a couple of years ago and gained it back plus 100lbs. I am a emotional eater and need to find something else. All comments are appreciated. Good luck to all!!

Hi there! My suggestion to you first off is if you do not have the Fat Smash book yet you should purchase one. It doesn't cost a lot and is very helpful! The second suggestion is the book says not to use weights until Phase III so I would strongly suggest not using them in Phase I and II. Concentrate on the cardio and getting your heart rate up to where it needs to be and keep it there for 30 minutes...it really does help. Suggestions for snacking if you need something to get you by make sure you have some fruit and veggies available to munch on. You can eat those as much as you want too, there is really no limit. I also make smoothies and keep them on hand; they really help fill you up when you need something quick. Phase I in the book suggests 2 cups brown rice, fruit's and veggies (no limit), some different beans; yogurt and most importantly WATER.....drink lots of water to get you by also! Like I said if you don't have the book I strongly suggest you purchase one to help get you through this. Let me know if you need anything else. Best of luck to both you and Deena.....you will get there, it just takes time! Wink

If you don't have the book, you can go here to get you started:

Yeah, the book says no weights until phase 3, and even then Dr. Ian suggests waiting until you get to phase 4. Cardio is the fat burner, and weights could make you actually gain weight in the beginning. Hedder is right....fresh fruit & veg is the way to go as far as snacking during phase one. Wishing yall the very best and we're all here if you need some support!
