Hi, I´m 18 years old girl. I lost a lot of weight and I became anorexic, but then I gained and now I have BMI 22. I gained 30 lbs in 4 months and 4 inches in waist. I feel so uncomfortable. Before I was so active, but now I´m too lazy. Everything of this happened just because I´m sweettoothed and I´m always boring. I´m trying to lose 10 lbs, I started to do low impact cardio and walk a lot, but I have problems with eating. Doctor told me, that I have to take care of how much sugar I´m eating. He told me, that I could have diabetes, because my lifestyle is so unhealthy. I ruined my life. I´m here to start again and I need some tips for meal plans for 1400 calories and breakfast ideas for sweettooth. Thanks Smile

22 BMI is still healthy. I don't know what your height is, but perhaps you just need better nutrition to get everything in order. Who told you to use a plan for 1400 calories? Talk to a nutritionist or get one of those sugar smart books.

Smile It is good you acknowledge you have an issue and are seeing a doctor. Smile Sugar is something you crave the more you eat the more you crave. What about natural sugars in a fruit smoothie, small banana, kiwi, berries and all with yoghurt and trim milk in the blender. Maybe find a focus that involves no thought about weight, like a hobby that is active to get you out of "boring". 18 is such a wonderful age if you let it be. I think there is an incredibly high percentage out there who regret not making the most of those years. If only the stuff I am into now I got into back then. Are you outdoorsy? There is so much choice and getting out there and getting active strangely gives us energy. Good luck Smile

I tried to eat just fruit, but I binge on it. Always. Before I was very active, I was running, cycling, walking, lifting weights, doing cardio and etc. Now, when I gained I feel like a whale. Now I can do just low impact and walk. Sometimes, maybe 3-4 times a week I spend 2 and more hours on stationary bike or on a walk. And thanks Smile

You didnt ruin your life! We are all where we are supposed to be whether it is healthy or not. I hope your dr was just teying to get your attention. Sugar and flour are my downfall, cant stop once I've started, so I need to stop because I want to be healthy and off the binge/purge wagon! You can do it.

I was three times in hospital for week, because of my "diabetes". I had a lot of sugar in blood, when they take care of me in hospital.

Fruits have fibre which should help them digest slowly & so also release their natural sugars slowly. But if you're diabetic then best to choose wisely which fruits to go for. Such as berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc) over tropical fruits (bananas, pineapples, mangoes, etc).

Also try & avoid sugar, flour (wheat, rice) and other refined, processed carbs. If you have a sweet tooth there's alot of sugar free candies / sweets & chocolates available. & also try and make your own low carb sugar free cakes from almond, coconut, flaxseed or Lupin flour. And sweetened with Stevia, Truvia, Erythritol, or even Splenda.

Oh hun, I just read your journal & food diary now, & realise that your anorexia is not quite under control yet? A goal of 77 lb is dangerous, even for 5'3". And the symptoms of diabetes you're having might be caused by VLCD'ing followed by binging episodes?

When you don't come out of a VLCD properly, but instead eat a high amounst of high carb & sugary foods, it makes you insulin resistant. This is because the body needs time to adapt back to "normal" eating. But flooding the body with carbs when it has been in ketosis doesn't give it enough time to adjust back and thus you will find you develop Peripheral Insulin Resistance & High blood sugar. Until your body has had a chance to catch up & fully converted back out of ketosis.

Bouncing between VLCD'ing & Binging will only make you more & more insulin resistant, worsening blood sugar levels & diabetic symptoms. That's why it's very important to come out of a Ketogenic diet slowly & properly!

Please, if you haven't already, tell the doctor treating you for anorexia about what is happening.

I would never suggest to eat just fruit but try and get "all" whole foods covered. Anorexia can yo yo and I want you to focus on "you" and why YOU are worth getting better. You aren't in denial and that is a good thing but please dont go into justification mode - it is too destructive. You have a whole life to live, dont let your "issues" or even the underlying causes ruin or mar what you could have and be. The thing with anorexia is it can cause so much physiological harm which counteracts your goal in the first place. Ask yourself this is your goal 77bs or is it control. I would ask you to gain control by being a strong happy and healthy "youngster" Wink (kia kaha - keep strong)

I could be mistaken, but having checked the comments section to see that you are 5'3" tall, the exact same height as my best friend who is the picture of a slender healthy female, she is built very tiny in every possible way, and she goes between 110-120... at the low end. I then decided to go to your profile to see what your goal weight is and I am highly concerned. Admittedly, your weight should be on the low end due to your height. But anything less than 100lbs is dangerous. I strongly caution you against getting "skinny" to fix feeling awful. If your diet isn't agreeing with you, it isn't probably a weight issue as much as it is a nutrition issue. If you have a carb heavy diet your stomach may feel like it's got a lead weight sitting in it. I would recommend foods like light cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, and avocados to get a filling, satisfying meal that gives your body fuel and keeps you a healthy weight without feeling bogged down. All the best to you on your journey to health!
