I agree with mummydee I was introduce to Pilates by my wife and I was very reluctant to try it out at first buts it’s very good for your core and lower ads and it’s a great complementary exercise I have been doing it 2 to 3 time a week for over a year now.

What kinds do you usually do?? Some of my favorites are with a medicine ball, stability ball, and some version of a plank. I have a stability and medicine ball at home so I can do the exercises even when I'm not at the gym! I got both of mine from beachbody and love em- http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_gear/medicine-balls.do
These are some of my favorite 'different' ab exercises that I do on a ball- http://www.self.com/body/workouts/2013/01/flat-abs-fast-secret-slideshow/2 The medicine ball is great for russian twists, crazy ivans, reverse crunches, and almost every crunch since it's just adding weight to make it a little more difficult.

I'd also check out Tone It Up's ab workouts...they always have fun kinds of exercises! http://toneitup.com/2014/03/the-best-ab-workout-routine/

You can do select Pilates exercises that concentrate on abdominals.

You should try Leslie Sansone videos, or zumba. These are fun things that work the abdominals.

I tyically do leg raises, standard situps, crunches, and try to incorperate the abs into my chinups/pullups.
Forward is the only direction to go.
