Aerobic Cardio is soooo boring! Can't stand doing one thing (running, biking, elipitcal, etc) for more than 10 minutes at a time. Does anyone have ideas about different ways to do cardio that are more stimulating?

I know what you mean. I do intervals on the treadmill. For example: 5 minutes at 5.0, 3 minutes at 6.0, one minute at 7.0, 3 minutes at 6.0 and so on. Before you know it, you're a half hour in! Sometimes it's easier to look at it in digestible chunks rather than the whole. Good luck!

Have a look at this video, I do know a few people who do this and love it. I'm going to try it when I get back on the wagon next year.

This may sound like a simplistic answer, Have you considered cross-training? Simply go from machine to machine ie 10 minutes on treadmill, 10 minutes on stair master, 10 minutes on bike. I did it and the boredum of Cardio went away (sort of).

Good suggestion Glaun, I just found cleaning the machine after use, is a must if you want to avoid the deadly eye stares... and that takes away from the movement...and keeping the heart rate up. Same with circuit training at the gym , you can't set up all the machines you need and move smoothly from one to the next without someone else jumping in.

I know this is probably not going to help but I just created a music playlist of songs I like so much I don't want to miss them and it's about 30 mins long... When I get tired of one song I swap it out for a new one I love... keeps me going

Dreadmill SUCKS!!!! However, for me I found out that by taking myself outside to run, it is not only, not terrible, most of the time it is the highlight of my day now. I have only ever known a couple people who can stand doing a dreadmill workout, it seems to be something you have to work yourself up to, not something you can just start out on.

I hear ya! BORING ha ha Wink

My suggestion;
I run stadium steps for about 20-30 minutes once a week (weather permitting). I do a set of every step, a set of every other step, then a set of every 2 steps. I count that as one full set and can get in about 12-16 sets in 20-30 minutes. My heartrate monitor reads 76%-96% so this burns some major calories! I cannot run the every two steps since I have to stretch my legs so far but even walking for the 2 step set, it keeps my heart rate up and I know it reaches different muscle fibers than the other sets do. Its really fun too!

I agree with the suggesstion on creating a playlist! The right music does amazing things to your energy level during cardio. I love music! So much that I was thrilled when I clicked on the BBC video (link above) and heard "Massive Attack" music playing in the background LOL Smile

I really like YouTube search dance cardio, theres a lot of good ones. I personally like the dance cardio workouts because they mix it up so you're less bored. Theres a lot of cool ones other than denise austin although I like hers. Tracy anderson is awesome for the mat workouts but her dance cardio is kinda for skilled dancers so it takes awhile to learn and is super intense.

Are you a member of a gym that offers group exercise classes? I love things like Zumba, spin class, turbo kick, etc.. and it really keeps you engaged and having fun for a good hour or so! Smile

First, if you have this workout equipment at home, sell it. Second, take that money and either buy cd's, or load up the Ipod. Then, turn up the music and dance. That's what I do! Oh, yes, zumba can be a blast also!

Counting Steps
I count them as minutes walking, so 100 steps per minute and I class them as at a slow pace because I am walking at normal speed around and office complex. When I walk I do it briskly at about 3.5 mph
