Does everyone weigh their food? Should invest in a food scale?

I have a food scale just for general cooking purposes, so using it for portion control is an added bonus. I'd say yes, it's worth the money.

Books are cool, but you need to have enough time to read them and even more time to implement the tips from there. I have very few periods when I have enough free time.

Yes, the gut IS the last thing to go. Hoping the last 13 pounds comes from there! I've gone from a full sized radial to a deflated inner-tube. LOL
