Hi everyone, I'm new here and am just getting into this forum. 61 year old female with type 2 diabetes and moderate CKD. For the first time in my life, I am committing to eating healthier foods, less food daily and including regular exercise. Mainly, I walk on my lunch breaks with my dog, but can't do this everyday because of banking, post office runs etc. At home I work on a small horse farm where we groom horses, ride when I can, clean stalls, garden in the summer, yard work, chop and haul fire wood. So, I consider my lifestyle to be moderately active because I spend way too much time sitting at my job. It is what it is!
2008 I had a back injury, which was my gaining point. My all-time high was 236 and at 5'2", I was a butterball. Smile I hated it. Fast forward to 2021 - I'm currently at 175 with a goal of 150. My weight loss has been a slow process over the last few years, but I'm going in the right direction. The difference today is this: I am committed to making healthy changes in my life. I love food and that's not going to change, but my health issues require my accountability and commitment, so that's why I'm here. My plan is to retire somewhere between 67 and 70 years old, and I want to be healthy and active enough to enjoy life well into my retirement! I hope to get inspiration from the people here, and maybe even inspire others to keep going, persevere and overcome our challenge of being slim and healthy. We got this!!!
