Don't know that answer, if I have to guess I'd say the digital one.

I have digital scales at home (sitting on vinyl floor), and weighed myself before going to the Dr. She got me to stand on her dial scales (sitting on carpet) and I weighed in 4kg lighter! I guess it depends what they are sitting on, and how well they are calibrated.

Actually, the answer is none of my business, so please ignore the question.

Digital scale is better than dial. However it has to be on an even smooth surface like tiles. Try using the same spot every time you weigh.

As for accuracy, they are not different. Analog or digital, all scales depend on a spring to measure your weight. They only differ in how they display the result. Digital simply calculates the tension on the spring and gives you a weight reading based on that. I think digital scales are much better because they have features. You get backlit displays, unit conversion etc.
Here is an article that can give further guidance on the digital weight scales:

This morning, my digital scale weighed me exactly what my doctor's balance beam scale weighed me.

Less important which one is accurate, just pick one to use as the 'official weight tracking scale.' That way you will not have to worry or remember which one you use to determine your weight at a given moment.

Use your scale as a tool rather than an end in and of itself! It will make the process easier less stressful.

You are not defined by a number. You are defined by how you feel about yourself and the progress you see in the mirror!.

Do make sure your non-digital scale is set to 0 when no weight is on it, however. Sometimes they need to be reset to the 0 position.
We win the war on weight with new knowledge, skills and smart behavioral changes, not by will power alone.

After reading several posts, I've decided on a digital scale to purchase because I like the idea of some of the added features over a 'dial' unit. For a couple years I've just made sure to wear the same clothes for doctor appointments with my primary so I could keep track, but I did better with having my own scale at home. Thanks for your input!
