3 different digital scales read 3 different weights! The 2 at home are a lb. off, 179lbs. and 178 lbs., and the one at the gym is 177.5 lbs! I'll go w/ the higher reading! No short-cuts!

I have 2 scales and I weigh on each. They are off for me by about half a pound but they are consistent. I pick one and use it exclusively. The other one serves as a sanity check. I put this in place since the time the cat pushed something under the scale and made it weigh differently for a week before I noticed, was really bummed to learn that 5lb drop wasn't real.

Also, I weigh at roughly the same time each day, that is important as well. I've seen weight fluctuate by more than a pound just by weighing then weighing again a few hours later.

Most importantly in my opinion is to record weight daily / analyze weekly. Every Sunday I calculate the average for the previous 7 days, then I compare that to the previous weeks' average. This gives me a far more accurate view of what is going on, particularly if you graph it in a spreadsheet. Daily weight graphs are very spikey and are more difficult to interpret. This leads to an increased chance of bad decisions or ineffective adjustments. The math essentially smooths out the spikes induced by daily weight fluctuations. Weighing only once a week is problematic on several levels, personally I would never go that route - I mean mathematically you can achieve the same thing but it will take 7x longer to get the equivalent amount of data.

I don't like digital scales.I bought a regular scale and step on it a few times and it is the most consistent.. then once in a while I use the digital too and compare and again.. it gives me wild and crazy readings.. like.. ok now its 205.. (don't like that?) step again.. now its 199.. (try again!) .. and how about an even 200? See what I mean? The OLD fashioned scale doesn't do that but the digital seems to not be able to make up its mind.

Digital scales are tricky. I learned that I have to weigh myself 10-12 times in a row and then use the average of those as my weight for the day.

I like it. However, I know that some digital scales are (or at least were several years ago) designed to provide the exact same reading if an item near the same weight is placed on the scale within a few minutes. That misleadingly suggests an accuracy that doesn't exist.

Drink a glass of water and you can gain a pound. If you are on those scales at different points in the day it may be that you have food and water if your system. To be consistent it helps to weigh yourself at the same time in the morning. My weight can fluctuate HUGE within a single day because I love to eat!

Plateau no more
I think the body does that a lot. Great that you hung in there and was patient. Some people go crazy and do weird things or just give up. But believing in your diet is the main thing
