I'm new here and wondering how the kcals work? When I exercise do those calories get subtracted from my daily kcals. I'm confused. Your help will be appreciated!

Unless you work out routinely, consistently, and a lot (breaking a sweat), don't count those calories towards your RDI.

When I started more than a year ago I only counted food calories.
Now that I work out very consistently (yoga and running), every day from 30 to hr and a half, I eat more than before, otherwise I feel like I'm starving.

However, I still don't count exercise calories. I just upped my RDI to what my body and scale tell me is "maintenance weight"

Just feel and know yourself, then you will know how many calories you have to eat.

For reference- with no exercise I ate 1200ish. With exercise I have to eat around 1800ish.

I also focus on the food not the exercise. Exercise probably does help but how much can be hard to assess. With time you will probably get a very good idea of how to balance it all out

Water Retention
So I definitely retain water. I try and drink a ton - like over the recommended 64 ounces a day. Should I drink more water or cut back? Recommendations for water retention issue?

Too much food.
I am having trouble with portion control. Eating healthy foods jut too much. I am going to spend the extra $$ and buy individually packaged food. I hope that will motivate me to just eat 1 portion.
