Starting a new approach to weight loss. I've done it again and again in my neurotic way (counting everything, over-exercising, all-consuming...) and want to give moderation a shot. Steady sanity is the name of the game here. Looking for some positive friends to keep me from going overboard who I can support in return. Smile

Hi Josie, this is Ali. I too have only just joined in the last few days and am a firm believer in moderation. I don't have a great deal of weight to lose, but am in this for the long haul - i.e. after losing the weight keep maintaining.
I am an oldie - 69yrs and have been on the dieting bandwagon since I was a young mum. I recently gained weight after being steady for quite a few years and would be pleased to buddy with you to help get your weight down in a sensible and timely manner.
In a previous life I was a Weight Watchers Lecturer, but that was a long time ago.

Hi Josie, I am the same yo yo dieting, but I am at the age that I want to get my baggage off my hips lol. I watched a video over the weekend and found it quite interesting with regards to what time of the day you eat. I have copied the link below. Its a 1 hour 40 minutes, a bit boring in parts but informative.

I've fallen off the wagon before too and I'm hoping I stick with it this time!

Hi Everyone
I too have been struggling with my eating and exercising. The older I get the harder it seems.

CarolLewis thanks for posting the youtube link. I watched it and find it very interesting. A lot of people I know have tried fasting and say it is a good way to lose weight.

Thought today to try the 16/8 fast.
Can have breakfast in 3 minutes.
Seems easy enough.
Anyone else got weight off doing this.?

Harriet... I think almost every one fasts now. It is easier for most that to strive to eat small meals.

I'm starting again as well, after a year off and pigging out. I need some suggestions for snacks. I sit at my desk all day and snack, unfortunately it's not healthy snacks. I do the 100 calorie bars or nuts. But the sugar in Rice Krispie Bars are out of sight.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's the calories that matter. Bring fruit to work, I snack all night at work but it's mostly low-calorie fruit or protein bars. Just make room for the calories.
Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals.

I am a snacker! I get most of my calories, etc from snacks. Ugh! I have always eaten this way, and it usually works for me. Honestly, I think I am back on this site b/c I have been fixing dinner. I eat a lot of nuts, and recently found this roasted and salted edamame. The edamame is a good crunch to eat at the desk. I did the Whole 30, auto-immune Paleo where I was introduced to plantain chips. Our grocery store had some good ones along with dehydrated veggies. I also have some SeaSnax Roasted Seaweed on order from Amazon...hopefully it's not a waste of money. Oh, and the Lara Bars were a good 'go to' for me before.
