You can have small, medium or large body frame (which can be calculated by measuring your wrist or elbow). If you have large frame calculate your normal BMI by adding 10% to the numbers that are used by calculators. If your frame is small you have to substract 10%. BMI is also only relatively accurate for medium height, if you are shorter or taller than average, your numbers are also off. I have large frame, so even though I still have some weight to lose, I am not aiming for lower range. And I will never be size 2 either.

As for skinny, statistics does not support this theory either. People with low BMI do not live longer, and are not healthier. Anyway it is statistics, we are individuals, and when applied to one person statistics does not work. We all need to try to take good care of ourselves, but weight by itself is not a good measurement of health. Lots of people unfortunately lose weight when in poor health. We are so concerned with losing weight, that sometimes do not even realize that there are lots of people on this site who are tracking their calorie intake to gain weight or make sure they do not lose more.

Ingria, you touched on a subject that impacts me as well. Using the wrist/elbow measures, I also have a large frame. As a young adult, my hip bones would protrude through my school uniform. I am now 70 and have periodic bone density scans. My doctor advises my bone density looks like a 20 year old. I am working to lose some excess weight but, when I do, it still puts me in a medically obese category. My weight goals are to take me to a number that I know is healthy for me...poo poo the rest.

have a read about her https://missvictoryviolet.com/2017/01/embrace-the-documentary/ then watch the documentary "Embrace" I won't say much about how it made me look at people , especially gym bunnies, and how my snarky remarks stopped at once. It's on Netflix, an excellent show

Thanks for the link. I been following the body image movement lately. I like "The good place" quite a bit and Jamila Jamil campaigns for women to feel better about their bodies. Just recently she led a campaign against Avon and they publicly apologized to her on Twitter. It was nice. I will look for that program. Too many people think that their lives will be different if they just lose one more pound and it should not be like that.

Thanks liv001, yes she deals with women and body image but also travels around the world to interview a burn victim and a woman who has a full beard and has learnt to deal with it. It's very well done and it humbles you when you think of our 'probems'

No. People just mix with all their different diet choices. There are some groups but they are not very active right now.
