Yesterday at the gym I had a new experience - while working out I noticed a gentleman (?) watching me on one of the pieces of equipment that I enjoy, the back extensor. I thought that he was waiting to use this machine, so I cut my rotation at two and went on to the next piece of equipment. A little later I noticed him watching me again but I completed my three rotations on that machine and progressed to the others that I do regularly. As I was leaving the gym this same man came up and asked me how long I had been working out at the gym, did I come often, and several other comments. While this was gratifying because of the weight that I have lost and the time I have worked out at the gym, it was also unnerving to know that he had been watching me for over an hour. But as a 71 year old who has lost over 80 pounds, it was also pleasant to realize that all I have done to date is paying off. It has been a long, long time since something like this has happened to an old married woman like me.

She was sharing something that made her feel really good today, thank you s much for being negative, Ollie. I try to stay in the backround and I don't have strong opinions on much, but that stung.

I try not to read too much into other people's name's and whatnot-my interpretation could be entirely wrong. I don't want to offend people.

Wow - you are a drama queen shapeshift. i am not the only person on fs who read her name that way-it's funny that's all it is. There are people here with names like that - self deprecating a bit, as a term of self endearment - or self empowerment. Like those who call them selves something akin to fatgirl patty - or fat girl jen. There are some even deeper ones.

Stop being over dramatic - she knows what I meant. Pump the brakes sister.

And if I was wrong in interpreting what your other post was saying, then I still think you were harsh in your choice of words, but I apologize for jumping the gun.

Ah the internet message boards -- one thousand and one ways to misinterpret and take offense. I thought Ollie's post was cute, but I know some people get really upset about the "b" word in any context.

Anyway, here's my first post, jumping in the middle of an argument. Tells something about me I guess.

On topic: I loved Bigblittleitch's post and was very inspired by it. I belonged to a gym, went regularly for one year, and not one man flirted with me! Maybe that's that was my subconscious reason for not re-upping my membership. Heh.

Really it was because I broke my leg and couldn't do much for awhile. I'm hoping to just be able to do some of the chair work-out videos on the internet. Vacuuming is actually a pretty good work-out for someone who needs a cane but I can tell it isn't getting my heart rate up to cardio level.

It used to annoy me when people made admiring remarks. But I'm now of an age where one or two wouldn't go amiss. Glad the appreciation gave you pleasure.

pssshhh....My wife says I get comments all the time...I'm happily married (29 years) and that stuff blows right past me. "huh.....did someone say something?" If it doesn't come from her, I pay no attention.
But it is nice every now and then.....

Does this mean Ollie is gone? On second thought I think he will be with us for a long time just under different names.

I think the body does that a lot. Great that you hung in there and was patient. Some people go crazy and do weird things or just give up. But believing in your diet is the main thing
