Oh and beef jerky is a great snack that's low carb. You can make your own in the oven and save money.

If you want to up your protein without upping your carbs, here's what you do. You can eat chicken, beef, pork, fish, seafood, and eggs.

Hey Len,
I've yet to find any clear evidence on the Splenda issue. The latest was the CSPI downgrade, but that was in advance of a paper from an Italian lab that claims to have demonstrated a link between Splenda and leukemia in mice. That same lab, however, is known by the CSPI to follow test protocols that are not standard and of unknown reliability. So the downgrade seems to be an act of caution but rather pre-emptive in nature. Not to mention that it will most certainly be early to call if another lab has not independently verified the results.
Stevia tastes like licorice to me. Normally, I actually like licorice but I find it nasty when it overpowers something else.
So far, since there seems to be a lack of clear evidence that it's dangerous, I'm sticking with the yellow stuff. That said, everything in moderation. Smile

Hi

My proteins of choice are all that is either carb free or very low carb -

Eggs in any form - backed, boiled, scrambled.
Cheese - Cheddar, Gauda, Edam, Emmenthal, Feta
Protein shakes - be careful which one you pick and check the grams per serving carb content
Bacon - love love bacon
Tuna - Any fish as long as it is not crumbed or dipped in anything
Chicken - with skin on. Leftovers can be used cold in a salad
Any beef or pork or lamb meat

Good luck
Nicky

Hi wasinger,
Well since Stevia is natural, been used for a long time
without any bad "press" and since it tastes fine ( to me )
I think it is a better safer way to go.

In the absence of scientific evidence, seems to me a matter of preference. You can just sub whatever sweetener you like in the recipe I shared.

Ok, I know I'm becoming a bit of a haunt on this thread... But I'm a protein nut so this is my fave topic and I have to share the epiphany I had. Pouches of tuna! Portable, light, no refrigeration needed, tons of protein and no carbs. They are becoming my go to snack. And you can buy a version that already has a bit ofmayo and seasoning added. Calorie count is low, too. Had to share. Smile

if you are resistance training, stick with quality whey protein, eggs, steak and chicken.
