Ok so this is a new concept to me introduced to me by my cousin. I'm just looking for ideas and tips from anyone that goes by a raw food or whole food type diet. Do you avoid all meat and dairy? If so do you then supplement? Is it true that most adults don't digest dairy well? Has it helped you shed weight? I've been stuck trying to loose 10 pounds and cannot seem to move the scale at all! I thought I had made some great changes to my diet and I have been really consistent with my exercise but still nothing. I figure I have to try something new.

I am not sure about raw food, dairy however, expecially cow milk is hard for all humans to digest. Some more than others. It is made for baby cows and has hormones and stuff in it for them.
I have never been able to run much. I want to run a marathon.

Have you read "skinny bitch"? It made me go whole food for awhile, but I couldn't stick to it. I love me some processed junk food... I do hope to go back to a more whole foods aproach as I get closer to my goal though.
mini goals:
170 - 50 pounds gone! (reached October 2, 2010)
155 - no longer overweight! (reached January 22, 2011)
145 - 75 Pounds gone! (reached May 14, 2011)
135 - ultimate goal weight!

Skinny bitch...sounds interesting I might have to check it out. I just want to loose a few pounds but the scale isn't moving so I figure I need to try something different.

i dont do a whole food/raw food diet, not strictly, but i do almost all my shopping from the outer aisle of the super market, and pack things full of real fruit and real vegetables. as far as meats, i think the recommendation is to try to go with the organic, grass fed as much as possible (from the bob harper book i read).

As far as dairy, it is true... humans have a hard time digesting it, and absorbing the calcium in it. (Even baby humans, they can't even have it until over a year!) I have not given up dairy... yogurt is awesome for you, and cheese has great protein in it (i use low fat for all my dairy though, since it doesn't have any added chemicals..) but i have replace my milk with almond or coconut milk (almond milk really the healthiest, coconut milk is all fat but its "good" fat, and it tastes yummy... but use it sparingly). And yes, its helped. Not only with the weight loss, but with my digestion... diverticulitis and a few other digestive problems run in my family, so its been a big plus. And it also TASTES great. now i get to have almond flavored coffee and its healthy!

good luck on your journey! yay you!

ive heard of it, but i havent tried it. there's hazelnut milk too, but that has more calories than whole milk, so i avoid it. soy milk is good, but basically equal in cal/fat as milk milk. there are so many types of milk out there!

and back to your origional "tips for raw/whole food eating"... seriously, when you shop, go around the outside of the aisles. you know, the veggies, fruits, etc. thats the non-processed foods. frozen fruits/veggies are fine too... watch out for canned, it usually has sugar or salt added. and watch out for dried fruit... it usually has a lot of added sugar, plus your body digests it faster, so its like having even more MORE sugar. (2 teaspoons? raisins or 1 cup grapes!)
