Soooo i was wonderin, how often should one reward themselves ? any ideas people ?

definitely every day. Wink seriously, though, i don't really believe in depriving, just moderating. if i think i want fast food, i plan accordingly. but i certainly have a few m&m's and, well, anything, every day. i don't believe in specific diets, besides reducing sugar and white bread, cereals, etc. i believe you have to eat carbs, fats, and certainly proteins ... just in moderation.

As often as you want. Just be sure to enter the reward in your food diary. Then stay under your RDI. A hand full of candy or nuts can equal a good sandwich. Eat the candy bar, lose a sandwich for lunch. Eat a McDonald's burger (about 900-1200 calories) and lose breakfast and lunch. Just be honest with yourself, be able to deal with the consequences of the "Reward".

I never reward myself with food. Ever. If I want something and it's worth the calories, I work it into my day (and keep it small, like a single truffle or splitting dessert with my husband and telling him he has to eat most of it.)

My reasoning is that using food as a reward is how most of us got here in the first place ("if you eat all your X, you can have a cookie!" or getting a piece of candy for making it through a dentist or doctor's visit).

I gave myself a reward in the form of a new shirt when I realized most of my clothes weren't fitting very well anymore (and it was super cute and on sale). When I dropped my first significant chunk of weight (40 lbs), I got my nose pierced. It wasn't something I'd set as a goal/reward, but it seemed like a good way to celebrate because it was something I wanted *and* it didn't add any calories to my day.

Originally, I'd planned to reward myself with an afternoon of horseback riding for every 20 lbs, but I couldn't find a stable nearby, so I started looking for other fun activities, preferably things that would get me moving or outside, or doing something that would actually contribute toward my goal (and getting another reward day!)

I like the way you think! I think I more often want a "consolation prize" for stressful days - have to figure out a non-food solution for that that doesn't "reward" stress and encourage creating more of it. A lot of stress is just due to re-hashing unpleasant events, after all - a head trip.

I wonder how all those people from 2014 are doing now? I never use food for myself or my family as a reward for anything. Personally I get a facial or mani/pedi .

Just enjoy! No need for a reward if you eat what you want within your calorie limit. I don't restrict myself so I never feel a need to reward myself. If I want something, I eat it.

Simple stuff and if your good at it you can be lean, fit and healthy. That's all I do at 42 and it keeps me fit!

^^^ There seems to be a trend with people who are successful for years. Flexible dieting. You can only deprive yourself so long all while telling yourself you love it until your motivation wanes and you binge yourself to your original weight.
Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals.

Find things within whatever diet you're on that you can look forward to. I'm dieting again after putting on a few over the last couple of years, but for my last diet I just got to a point where I'd save the best things I was eating (yogurt, or peanut butter based foods) at the end of my day as the rewards for a day of eating lots of green things I wasn't as fond of... haha. This helped me not seek out other treats by staying in the limits of my diet.

Sometimes I get so frustrated with myself. I am so accustomed to using food to comfort myself. If I would drink water or not spend money instead I would be better off!
