This xylitol is a sugar substitute that is the best I've ever found, and actually is GOOD for you, too. It is safe for diabetics so I would THINK it is ok for IP, but does anyone know?

I am hungry for sweet things...not easy...ugh. I want to make this work but cravings are not going away.

I haven't heard of that one. I'm a diabetic and I use something called whey low which is a milk and fruit sugar substitute. Much lower in calories, supposedly a lower hypoglycemic load. Comes in all kinds of varieties. I've used it in all kinds of recipes including baking. I use the one specifically for diabetics for that. I also use the brown sugar and maple sugar variants and the ice cream version for ice cream. I like it a lot.

I just bought a book online called 'Sweeten your life the Xylitol way' by Karen Edwards from allbookstores.com. Apparently it has recipes sweetened with xylitol.

There is so much information about xylitol online, I just did a search for it. My herbalogist recommends xylitol for any sweetening as it has so many benefits including keeping candida growth down.

Candida overgrowth is the main cause for cravings and I am going to my herbalogist and going through the candida cleanse to rid my body of candida overgrowth. Then I am having my mercury filled amalgam fillings replaced in my teeth and then he will take me through the heavy metal detox. Can't wait!

Xylitol is great - I used it last year during the holidays to bake "healthier" pumpkin pies to satisfy my sweet tooth but keep the weight down. I've started using it in my Pumpkin Protein Shakes to keep the calories down as well. It has so many healthy benefits too!

Xylitol has a mild laxative effect, so you might want to go easy on it! Also, Xylitol is deadly poisonous to dags, so be careful around dogs. I keep my Xylitol bag on the top shelf at the back of the pantry, so the dogs won't get at it.

On the other side, my dentist said Xylitol is the best sweetenr for your teeth.

Just keep in mind that xylitol is toxic to dogs if they receive a large enough dose - - don't share your treats with your DOG!

Ask yourself...why use a substitute? Find out if you are needing more protein in your meals. I'm type II diabetic and taking in more protein helps against sweet cravings. Try rewarding yourself only on a Saturday or Sunday instead of during the week helps.
It is more important to have small victories and reward yourself weekly!
