Well I guess it depends on which diet you follow.

I count calories, so I eat all the cake and potato chips I want, as long as it's within the RDI.
You don't need to sacrifice what you like to live a healthy life.

As long as you're not doing Keto, just put 8 chips in a nice bowl and take it to your seat. My butt is too lazy to get back up and get more. But if it's sitting right next to me-I'm toast! I'm a mindless muncher. Same with cake. a small 3" x 3" cake slice/cube can satisfy without eating half the cake. Eat them slowly and enjoy. Then go for a walk to get them off your mind.

I agree with Rosie We Can. I'm a chipaholic & a mindless muncher too. Measure out your portion, limit it to that, & savor slowly. Having a precise food scale really helps. There's actually a decent amount of chips in a half oz. portion. I'll eat the half oz. with my lunch & dinner so the chips compliment the meal & don't turn into the main attraction. For me the more highly seasoned my meal the more intense my cravings for sugar so I just try to keep my food lightly seasoned. Also, sucking on Wether's Original Caramel Candies at 15 cal. a pop can satisfy that sweet craving.

Like immort, I have the "forbidden" foods and just make sure to weigh them and count the calories. Sure, you should strive to have some healthy foods, but there is nothing wrong with a daily treat or two.
Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals.
