I know vodka is not allowed on Paleo but if you had to have a drink would a potato, corn, grain, or grape be best as main ingredient?

I believe that if you were to have a drink, red wine would be your best option due to the tannins being deemed "good for you". That's just my opinion though.

I know of no other way to cram large amounts of fat producing, weight creating, product into your body than alcohol. Makes no difference as to main ingredient.
IMHO if you "must have" even if you are trying to lose weight, then you might consider another program, a 12 step one at that. In all seriousness.
Good luck

Wow that's pretty brutal,, I think we all know alcohol is not good for any of us .. but it is a fact of life just like cake , cookies and donuts. And as adults if we can choose to consume in moderation its no worse than any of the other evils of the world . So Joan,, more power to you to have a cocktail every once in awhile and relax and enjoy your self. Or a piece of cake. so Put a little life into living every once in awhile . And if you cannot moderate ,, than don't do it . Simple as that . I am on a no alcohol Journey at this time,, but when I decide to have a fat laden craft Beer,, I will do so and enjoy every ounce of it . LOL,, Just myb take on things,, that's all . No harm no Foul .

Grape, definitely. Grapes are Paleo, after all... and if you've ever seen a bunch of yellow jackets bumbling around running into things after sucking on fermenting fruit off the vines, you know that alcohol occurs naturally as well. Alcohol made with grains would be a huge no. Potato is "meh" in my opinion. I know the white potatoes are not Paleo due to their being basically treated the same as bread by the body. But they are roots, not grains. Personally I don't freak out if a few bits of potato make it into the vegetable soup I order at a restaurant, for example. But that's just me.

Anyway... as much as you would drink grape juice, I would say wine from grapes would be okay. If you're really trying to lose weight, grape juice (or wine) would not be the best choice. But if you're maintaining or whatever... then sure, why not?
Highest weight 320 pounds (BMI 47.3) in 2015. Began eating Paleo and have lost over 165 pounds, with about 10 more to go. Paleo for life!

Such an old thread. Hardly anyone uses the word paleo. it is all keto now. Vodka is fine on keto and paleo as well

I used the word Paleo the other day. I seem to be fine. I don't have a friend named Leo who drinks very often If I was drinking, I could drink with my Pal-Leo. I mean it is better then drinking alone.
