You eat 40 net carbs/day. 15 must come from "foundation vegetables" and the other can come form any healthy source (no sugar, white flour, etc.) There is some info on the Atkins web site (so you don't have to buy the book). It is Sharon Osborn's diet.

You might say I'm on Atkins 60! *grins* Very Happy (hehe!). But really I'm pretty much doing my own low carb ketogenic diet. I've tried going as low as 20g net, but it was too restrictive for me. I cope much better between 40g - 60g a day. For one, I get to eat alot more fruit on 60g, which I really missed on 20g.

May 09 Month 12: 210 lb (+2 lb. gained). June 09 Month 13: 188 lb (22 lb. lost). July 09 Month 14: 181 lb (7 lb. lost). I have done all diets,you can not live on them indefinitely,there is not enough carbs on these Atkins. Have also done no flour,no sugar,WW you name it. If you like to eat you have to develop a healthy lifestyle designed for YOU! I love FS because they make it so easy to keep track. It is a lifelong journey.

I disagree with you Lousianagal. If you do Atkins correctly when you get to phase 4 you are eating a good healthy amount of carbs including fruits, legumes and nuts and seeds. You still are encouraged to not go back to processed foods but some can handle it and some can't. Unfortunately most people think of Atkins only as pertaining to the induction phase and this is where the problems come in.

Yes, you have to find an eating plan , whatever you name it, that works for you for life and we're all different.
If it is a plant, eat it, if it comes from a plant, don't!

I've pretty much eaten lowcarb for years...very doable after you work your way through the phases. No problems with it until I started eating poorly the last couple of years and gained some weight back, but hopefully it's on its way out again .

Congratulations!!! I've been on Atkins since May 2014. It's a great way to eat right and feel great. It sounds like your doing great. I have found it to be such a easy way to learn to eat right and you can do it forever. Just follow the phases and enjoy.
