For anyone wondering the significance of the abbreviations seen in posts and journals (and who hasn't?) here is our very own dictionary.

Please share your knowledge.

I'll get the ball rolling with one everyone knows:

lol = laughter on line

and another one:

BP = Blood pressure

I worked the help desk at an internet provider for about 3 1/2 years and we used to use the help desk standard "ID ten T" (ID10T) a lot. Also PICNIC. Problem in chair, not in computer.

And in the hardware realm, we had PCMCIA. People can't master computer industry acronyms.

One of our guys once said out loud, thinking the woman was on mute, "Another user with a picnic error". And she asked what he meant. He dodged it by asking me "Hey exactly what DOES a PICNIC error mean?" while making a face to me like "Oh hell, I am busted". And I said, loud enough for her to hear through his headset "It just means that a lot of people have that same problem in common, like when a lot of people at a picnic seem to not enjoy the same one food." She bought that.

Bogo, now often means, buy on get one half off. It used to be buy one get on free. Eddie I'm going to have to tell that picnic one @ work, we have to help people with our web site.
