Am thinking about checking them out after work tomorrow. I'll be right near there to pick up my new surface.

I have used PF once. I really liked it! The gym I visited was very clean and had everything I needed.

I am not a member at Planet Fitness - but I have gone there several times as a "drop-in" member. It is clean, has many options for cardio and weights, and has a no pressure environment. It is least expensive compared to most places, but you have to be very self-motivated.
If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

I love Planet Fitness when I used to be a member. Sadly, there isn't one around here. The staff was very helpful, especially if you didn't understand how to use a machine, or weren't sure where to start. Also, the people and atmosphere is way more friendly than any other gym I've been to.

Thanks. I'm not looking for a lot of coaching. It would be nice though to have some input here and there -- only avail @ my community center is another member. And i'm not looking for a slew of group classes. Just thinking for 10$ a month with hours that allow me to use it more often it might be something i can do. Right now the inhitial charge is 10$ instead of 59$. I 'm thrilled with the community center but i can 't get there 3 days ea week.

Also one of my goals for this year is to get out and meet more people. Community center usually has one couple and maybe 1 or 2 other women. All pleasant Sometimes it's just me. I also don't want somewhere that is over run with obnoxious people. Will go tomorrow and see what it is like.

Isn't PF the chain with the Anti-Lunkhead rule? That right there would make it my choice if I were to ever join a gym.

I've only had negative experiences with Planet Fitness. I've been kicked out for just doing my normal lifting routine. I suppose if you're only doing cardio it isn't bad(why you need a gym for that is beyond me), but if you lift regularly it is a horrible place. 0/10 would not recommend.

Were you setting the weights down with force? Even Chris Jones has to be careful about doing that lol.

I was doing deadlifts. I wasn't dropping them, but it's kind of hard not to make noise with 350lbs.

Once you get to that level it is going to be more about who manages the gym than the name on the chain if you go to a chain.

Oh my 350# would not be for me!! almost 65 and female. thanks all. yes they have the anti lunkhead rule.

I stopped in there yesterday seemed clean, neat, lots of machines of all kinds. Definately more cardio but a lot more choices for strength than the little community center I go to. Many ages of clientel and more older ones than I was expecting. The hours would work for me better than not having an option 3 days a week. I also found out there is a discount program with them thru my health insuarnce--not yet sure what they cover. May join on Sunday as today and Sat are taken up with a family get together and work today. need to actually sit down and talk details with them.

See if they have a discount for your age bracket too. My Mom used to get a Silver Shoes discount at a small local gym where she used to live.

They are running a special until the 10th. Ten bucks to join and ten a month with no contract. The closest gym to us is 14 miles away and it's Gold's. A friend belongs to PF and loves it.

That special is what did get me thinking I could afford it. In reading there is a $29.00 annual fee chaged in june then the $10.00 per mo. My health ins apparently has another discount of some sort--have to find out yet what ran out of time on my lunch break. It's 6 mi from my house and the one I've been going to is 4 so not a huge difference. will also ck out 60 plus discounts.
