Thanks to Kingkeld I downloaded this heart rate checker... This link is for androids... I have a iphone, so just searched for apps on the iTunes Store (there is a free one - which I have, but also a paid for one)

I also found this site, which has the Karvonen Heart Rate Calculator - apparently the 'gold standard' of calculations for athletes.

I used them both this morning - brilliant for checking how you are doing... I am tracking my stats on MFP (just 'cause it's easier).... So I can see how my fitness improves Smile

I am sure some of you will already have heart rate monitors (mines in the drawer!). This is so easy to use AND it's on your phone - which you probably use, to listen to music when exercising. So dual purpose Smile

THanks for putting this up here, Sk1nny. Smile

It's a GREAT idea, these heart rate monitors, and supposedly they are very accurate. I've tested mine right next to a pro one at the hospital a couple of weeks ago. I did it 3 times. The results was within 3% of the pro gear.

I went from morbidly obese to being the owner of TABDIG - a weight loss coaching service that helps people worldwide losing weight. It's been an amazing journey. From October 4th 2010 to April 3rd 2012 I lost half my body weight - 80 kilos/170 lbs. Since then, I have had two cosmetic surgeries to remove excess skin. I have now quadrupled my strength, gained several kilos in muscle mass, and today I focus on building muscle, optimizing my diet, living healthy and helping people to reach the very same goals. I am stronger, healthier, thinner, happier! If you feel that you need help losing weight, don't hesitate to send me an inbox message.

Your right KK... My DH has a BP monitor, which shows heart rate. He did it on the phone one first, and then his 'proper' BP monitor... Only 3 beats out. He's also tested his home BP monitor against the docs one... So we know that is accurate. Thanks for putting the original link up Smile

I just downloaded the iPhone version. 47 sitting at my desk at work. Yikes. No wonder I'm always cold! But I do get to a nice fat burning 118 while exercising so that's what matters!

Free, cheap, and easy. Most of you know this already , however:

1. Take any finger except thumb, and place lightly on Juglar vein (in neck)
2. Count beats in 10 seconds
3 Multiply by 6 = pulse/heartbeat
