I am eating very low carb to lose weight but a person can count calories as well. Are you planning on low carbing or just pondering choices?

You don't need to at all. Just choose minimally processed whole foods to control your calories. Most people with the best bodies on earth eat more carbs than anything else.
Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals.

I've lost over 20 kg now and never restricted my carbs, so you certainly don't need to.

Lost 25Kg, 2Kg from goal weight without ever restricting my carbs.
I keep eating pasta/cake/chocolate/rice, and a big etc.

As long as you're on a calorie deficit, what you eat doesn't really matter.

Weight loss simply comes down to caloric deficit. How you achieve that is up to you, but it's not necessary to remove carbs from your diet at all.

What you eat (and when) depends on what you do. I recommend getting your protein and fat intake fairly consistent. This way, you can focus on how many grams of carbs you need to be under/over your daily intake, then cycle four or five days of low carb with two to three days of higher carb. Vegetables come first, then higher quality carbs, and don't forget to treat yourself occasionally. I eat two fried eggs with a single piece of buttered Ezekiel bread and 3 ounces of OJ every single morning. I take two protein shakes made with Optimum Nutrition Natural (chocolate) mixed in water, instant coffee, and a tablespoon of heavy cream. I take a raw bell pepper, carrots, pistachios, and a small amount of raisins as snacks, and drink coffee at work with one tablespoon of heavy cream and half a tablespoon of honey. The shakes are for before and after my lunch-time workout.
That gets me through to dinner where I cycle most of my calories. Four nights a week, I eat meat and vegetables only and the other nights I have carbs. My favorite is taco night. I call them my magical weight loss tacos. After most of two days at low calories, they seem to be just the thing to tell my body it's okay to release the fat. Smile

Calories is a measure for energy. The idea is that everything we eat has energy and that can be released and used by the body. If we eat too much energy that gets stored as fat if we eat less than we need we use fat. If what you are doing is working and it is healthy just keep going

I do mostly low carb, but throw in some calories when the low carb gets too boring. When I am satisfied with some carbs, I alway go back to low carb.

It depends on your metabolism. I've been doing low carb for years but that's mainly because my body does not tolerate them well. I've got a highly allergic genetic background. But if you love, why not? Just limit industrial food, watch your calories and workout Smile

why?
why go to this much effort? Just quit obsessing about food and focus on exercise instead. I'm 59, a decade post-stroke and I eat maybe 1200/kcal/day and walk at least 10 miles a week.

Help......cravings...
Weird, I keep seeing people say keto takes away their cravings yet so many yo-yo, quit altogether and leave the site, or have a weekly binge. Wonder why.
