As a recent type 2 Diabetes diagnosis here I go, It is not a matter of wanting to do this, but having to, so here I am. Have been at it for a week now and tracking the food is nice, but blood sugar levels are all over the place, so just will stick with it and see where it takes me. I have to get busy living and not dying. This is some scary stuff and so much info everywhere! but sticking to 30 carbs a meal and no more than 15 carbs for a snack and having my total carbs for the day 100 to 150 and no sugar at this point. Tried to have some sugar free dessert and my blood sugar spiked, so thinking i will just leave it out until I have it normalized and then will add it in and figure out what stuff to stay away from according to my blood sugar level. Losing weight will definitely help.

My A1C went from 7.1 to 6.1 in 4 months by doing low-carb(~20/day). Eating that many carbs (>50) is guaranteed to keep your blood sugar high. (I firmly believe that the ADA is in the pockets of the pharmaceutical industry given their traditional recommendations.)

20 carbs a day (but that is total carbs minus fiber carbs). It is what I do as well. I do not have diabetes but it helps me control my appetite and lose weight.

Yeah it is the keto diet if it puts you in ketosis. Which it does for me. Some people can eat a few more carbs and also be in ketosis

I was just diagnosed the same. I have been trying to eat 6 smaller meals and use whole wheat bread or pasta as well as Brown rice. One of the tips I read is to eat the fast turning carbs with protein or fat since it takes longer for the protein and fat to turn to sugar.

If your insurance will pay for some visits to a Dietitian, I highly recommend. My daily ranges allowed/day, divided between 3 meals and 2 -3 snacks are 135g Carbs, 6 - 9 ounces protein, 40g. fat. I have been able to keep it well under for a loss of 10 pounds in 6 week. I have no cravings and do not feel deprived. Best wishes!
