I'd say;
1. Get digestion and intestines squeaky clean.
2. Do fresh natural fat as fuel source, with vegetables.
3. Cook and eat as those who lived before the industrial revolution.

I would tell my 16 yr old self to not give up the gym after college. I would also tell myself to not ever let emotional eating have a hold in my life.

1. Fat loss comes down to a caloric deficit.
2. Count calories now to avoid having to resort to deprivation diets.
3. Begin resistance training and practice form before going too heavy.
Consume whatever foods you prefer, whenever you prefer to consume them, while ensuring nutrient sufficiency and meeting caloric goals.

Don't stop dancing. You love it and it will keep you strong. No matter what, find a group and keep dancing.

If you want to lose weight, eat living food (plants, meat, poultry and fish cut out the junk food, processed food and fad diets. Make your way of eating healthier and mindful. Eat to live, not live to eat. Enjoy special meals with the thinking that they are only special because they are a treat, not the norm.

"Summary

Eat lots of protein.

Dairy is good for you.

Stop avoiding carbs; protein can spike insulin just as much.

Feel free to eat white bread and rice.

Insulin spikes aren't bad, and actually reduce your appetite.

Fat can be stored without the presence of insulin (see below point).

Ultimately, weight loss is controlled by calories in, calories out. If you consume less calories than your body burns per day, you will lose weight."

Calories in is a simplistic and incorrect theory.
As if our bodies react similar to a test-tube and hormones have no impact.

So, if it isn't calories, what is it that determines fat loss/gain? You're just parroting what "experts" who stand to make money spewing their misinformation in the form of hypotheses say. We are not closed systems, we burn a different amount of calories daily depending on our activities. The calories out portion is harder to control day to day. The calories in can be controlled easily, however. You simply find a good range that will have you losing at a moderate pace through trial and error.

On the topic of hormones, as long as you don't do anything rash like having a huge deficit or avoid sleep, they don't have wild swings that affect your metabolism as much as you want to believe.
