'm derbydance and I joined today. I'm not at all convinced that I can lose weight, although I desperately need to do it. Since I am diabetic, I don't have to choose a diet--lol. I've been carb counting since 2006.

I have an RDI of 3700 according to FS and it definitely seems high. It's not that out of line with the NIH simulator though.

I have read that the "Wheat Belly Diet" is good for diabetics.

Perhaps take a look at it Smile

Derbygance welcome to FS. There are alot of people eating Low Carb that will help you on your way. You CAN lose the weight. You need to believe it and believe in yourself. If you are willing to work at it you will get to where you want to be. I feel like I am struggling most of the time but I did lose over 43 pounds and intend to keep going! If I can do it so can you!

Hi Derbydance

My Dad and my Mom-in-law is type 2 diabetics. They both have had great success with low carb diets. Also Google Tim Noakes, he is also a diabetic who has had great results. http://www.health24.com/Diet-and-nutrition/Nutrition-basics/Tim-Noakes-on-carbohydrates-20120721

Good luck
Nicky
