Some people are only alive because it is illegal to kill them!
How incredibly rude!!!! OMG - I don't know if I could have kept my cool in that situation! I've been asked if I was pregnant and even had a lady pat my tummy when asking when I was due....Ugh - some people just don't have a clue. I'm sorry about your experience. Better days are ahead for sure!

If obesity is at an all time high in America why is it that I cannot find a dress?
Check out WomanWithin.com too. They cater to size 14 and up and have some really cute stuff at reasonable prices.

fucothin?
I've been on Atkins since September of 2007 and I've lost at total of 42 pounds. I was losing around 2 pounds a week consistently until the past few weeks. It seems as if I've only been dropping a pound every other week. I know slow and steady wins the race - but I'd like to ideally at least be losing a pound a week again. I was at the health food store yesterday to pick up some stevia and came across a supplement called Fucothin. The two main ingredients are brown seaweed and pomegranate seed oil. This supplement claims to boost metabolism without stimulating the central nervous system. Keep in mind that I'm not one to usually take *diet pills*. I'm very careful with what I put into my body because I have other health conditions to consider. I have hashimotos thyroid disease and fibromyalgia. I went ahead and bought one bottle to give it a try, but I thought I would check and see if any of you here at Fatsecret have tried this and if so what results have you seen? Thanks! Wendi

Food sensitivity
Yes - I've had my thyroid checked. I have Hashimoto's Thyroid disease since my early 20's. My body sees my thryoid gland as foreign and is attacking it. Its an autoimmune thyroid condition. My thyroid antibody test was over 800. I also have a positive ANA - anti-nuclear antibodies. I'm on thyroid medication and will be for the rest of my life. I get my levels checked every three months and my dose changes accordingly. I know my thyroid contributed to some of my weight gain - but I'm trying to be honest with myself and take full responsibility for the predicament that I am in. I am overweight because I overate and didn't do any kind of exercise. Yes - I am still eating to live and not living to eat. I look at myself as battling an addiction. My addiction is carbohydrates(sugar, potatoes, rice, white flour). Since cutting these from my diet - my life has changed drastically. I know this will be a lifelong change for me because of how good I feel. I don't crave carbs like I did a few months ago. I would be interested to see the relationship between a low carb diet and reduction of pain in fibromyalgia and arthritis patients. I saw where Sarray wrote about sugar causing a constant inflammatory response. It certainly makes sense. Thanks for bringing up this important topic!

Breastfeeding and Dieting
Have you contacted a lactation consultant or your doctor yet? You need extra calories while breastfeeding. Walking is how I lost most of my baby weight while breastfeeding. Best of luck to you! Enjoy your son - they grow up too fast!!!!

Odd Question
I'm sure you've heard the old saying "slow and steady wins the race"....I'm one of those slow losers on Atkins, but I am consistently losing at about a pound a week. I would like to be losing more, but from what I understand - when you lose slow, you are more likely to keep it off. Don't get discouraged. Keep a good variety in your diet so you don't get bored with low carb. I've been trying new recipes every week and have found many new healthy low carb foods that I love. I've been on Atkins since September and physically I feel better than I ever have in my life. When I reach a small plateau - I increase my exercise. Exercise is very important with any diet. Stick with it - I think you will be surprised at your own success.

Omron Premium Pedometer
You can get a two pack of batteries at Walgreens for under $6. I just got a two pack this week and they're energizer brand.

Any gym-haters out there? If so, how do you exercise??
I really enjoy Leslie Sansone's walking off the pounds dvd's. I also have a *bean* and do the exercises dvd that came with it too. The bean gives lots of exercises for overall toning.

What time of day do you exercise?
I think its really a personal preference. I can't exercise in the evening because the endorphin rush from exercise keeps me awake for hours. I prefer to exercise first thing in the morning before I eat, but that is just me. I make sure to drink plenty of water as I am exercising.

Adding texture
Pork rinds are typically a zero carb food. I get the bbq flavor ones and love them. Just check your labels closely for carb content.

supplements
I take flax seed oil and alpha lipolic acid along with my one-a-day healthy weight multivitamin. I'm not having any cravings. Google flax seed oil and you will find some good info on why its good for you.

What have you noticed since losing weight?
I have more energy, I'm not hungry 24/7 like I used to be, clothes are fitting and I'm starting to really notice a difference in my own self-esteem. :d
