Stinkin' Thinkin'
Hi Wayne, my name is Jane and I have an eating addiction. There is no pretty way to say this but I use food as a pacifier, friend, whatever. I must say congratulations on your healthy life alcohol free and you know how hard that was. Here is what I think and not too many people would argue this. I think that some of us have an addictive personality. It has taken me a lot of education and experience to come to this conclusion. Once I kick the eating problem I will have to be wary of what else I can get into. You have already proven to yourself that you have amazing will and determination. This is just something to apply that to. To accomplish what you have done already you must have the tools to conquer this. Good luck and please keep in touch I will need help here.

Stinkin' Thinkin'
Okay back to business so I am forgiving myself for falling off the wagon and I hope I can just keep it simple and stop that stinkin thinkin. I used to work in a Women's addiction recovery resource center That's a huge part of recovering from any addiction or abuse. I am really going to try to sort out the reality of eating and living healthy from all of the little stories I have been telling myself. My favorite is "just one bite." I wonder if any of you have been doing this? Feel free to share.

Body image
Welcome Bodicea! Gosh I did not realize how many women have these same feelings about our body image. My three daughters have a whole different outlook on this. They are raising their children differently. No talk about weight or size or negative comments about appearence. They stay active and eat healthy and they are focusing on building character.

Body image
I posted a picture of me at a decent weight I was wearing a size 10 which is probably a realistic size for my height and age. down 1/2 pound today but I know it is mostly water. Haha I will take anything to see that scale move down. Have a good day ladies you are very inspiring.

Body image
I am 64 years old and I have never had any positive body image at all. I recently visited my mom and she gave me a picture of myself at nineteen. I was shocked to realize that I was actually pretty. I know I will never be nineteen again but I am going to stop thinking negatively about how I look. What a waste!!

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Me too, when I don't I creep back up. I am starting to really feel my body gain and I kind of know before I get on how it will be.

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Every day, I noticed things really got out of hand when I stopped paying attention. I need that reality check.

Maturing adults, aka, we older folk!
Hi all, so good to know I am not the only mature adult aka baby boomer here. I just got back from taking my dog, Murphy for his walk. We walk fast up and down hill for about 30 min. twice a day. I have been slacking from that and using the fact that I am helping my elderly neighbor get ready for a move. This means packing most of her belongings. You would think that would take some weight off but no I need those walks. It is darn cold here in South Carolina this week. We got spoiled with 60 degree temps for a while. No more excuses I am going to take those walks every day and get back to losing and toning. I have arthritis and the doc tells me it is in my knees and hips now and this will help me keep moving. Good Luck everyone.

It's getting harder to eat :-(
The Atkins site is very helpful and most of the people are hard core low carbers. They will be very helpful to you.

Introduction, Confessions, Tips, and more LONG
Your journal was so inspiring. I have lost 17 pounds and gained 5.8 back since going on a cruise. I stay on plateaus for long periods and although I get tired of the struggle and blame myself for the failures I am not going to give up. Your advice is very sensible and applaud your courage. thanks Jane

Any dog loving buddies?
I have an Irish wolf hound named Murphy who loves to walk and needs to because of his size. I try to walk him a lot but I live in rural SC and we have to watch out for the hunters right now. I fence an acre for him but the 5'fence is a joke he can jump it easily.lol

Jelly Belly!
Gosh I have the saggy belly and the underarm bat wings. I have lost a lot of weight but not down to my goal yet. I am pretty old and no one is going to see me naked so I guess I will skip the surgery. If anything I will get a lifestyle lift.lol
