switching from Atkins to WW
I switched from South Beach to Weight Watchers a couple of years ago, and at first I was maintaing for a couple of weeks, but then the weight started to drop off slowly. WW is a much better way (for me, anyway) to eat pretty normally and still lose weight. Don't expect to lose quickly though, I lost an average of 1 pound a week. That DOES add up, though!

Shin Splints.
Ice + pain relievers + DOR is what I generally do if I get shin splints. The last thing you want to do is get a stress fracture! I almost got one once, it was very painful.

500 calorie or less diet experiment
You know what I called it when I ate less than 1000 calories a day for a year? An eating disorder. My doctor agreed. Consider Weight Watchers if you "need" a semi-structured plan. Best of luck to you!

Fruit, not as bad as I thought
I love fruit! I eat a LOT of it. Good for you, usually pretty low in calories, and very filling.

Does anyone think that they will ever 'go off' their diet?
I just recently switched from counting Points with Weight Watchers to Intuitive Eating, which is not counting anything but hunger signals. I'm loving it so far, but if I start to gain back the weight, back to Weight Watchers I will go!

Dukan Diet
Haven't tried it, but it sounds like low-carb/low-fat, which is an interesting combination! There are a couple of Dukan groups on here, look into those, there's lots of information out there. :-) Good luck!

Want to start weight watchers
I would try a free meeting or the free online trial and get a feel for Weight Watchers. Personally, I love it! WW helped me to learn portion control, hunger cues, and that losing weight slowly (about a pound a week) is the best way to go. Oh yeah, and I've also lost 75 pounds in 2 years on WW. ;-) It's a great program! The only negative for me is that I don't want to count points or calories forever, so I've switched to Intuitive Eating recently to learn how to eat naturally. Go for WW! I know nothing about the GI diet.

Size Matters?
I'm about to my goal weight/size right now and am anywhere from a 12 to a 15, depending on the store/brand/cut/etc. I have HIPS. I will NEVER be a 2,4,6, or 8. I used to aspire to be a 10, but I've come to accept that will probably not happen until vanity sizing gets even worse.

To each their own! What doesn't work for you or me may just work for that lady. I'm with you, though... I could NEVER do a diet like HCG, but I think that the HCGers really believe in their program, so... I mind my own business.

Intuitive Eating experiment...
Yes, I think that I will still have to impose some limits for my trigger foods like chips and cookies. Not count calories/Points for them, just only allow myself to eat a few a week or something. It will definately be an experiment!

Intuitive Eating experiment...
:d Hi, everyone! I've decided to try out Intuitive Eating (IE) once again. I'm on Weight Watchers (WW) right now, and I'm actually following the Simply Filling Technique, which is almost like IE. The reason that I'm doing this is to try and find my "happy weight"- the weight that my body naturally wants to be at and that will be easy to maintain. I have been debating changing my goal weight for awhile now, since I'm in the healthy weight range and feeling pretty comfortable where I'm at. Anyone have any experience with IE and want to share with me? BTW, I will be documenting the experiment (going for at least a month, hopefully for life, but if I gain too much weight on IE, will go back to WW) on my blog, linked in my signature. :-)

A low carb awakening!
I'm so glad that you've found what works for you! :-) I don't agree that carbs are bad for everyone, though. My body LOVES complex carbs, and whole grains keep me full for way longer than protein alone does. But that's me!

Balance?
I try to keep my pie chart to 50% carbs, 25% protein, 25% fats... but that doesn't usually happen! Usually I'm 60+% carbs, 15-20% protein, and the rest is fat. I a Weight Watching vegan, so I center almost all of my meals around whole grains, beans, and vegetables, all of which are carbs. I'm not sure whether there is a pefect percentage for everyone, but like others have said, see what works for you!

How to (re) start...
Try to give Weight Watchers another chance! Have you tried joining WW Online? That is how I have lost my weight, and if you really work the program, it works! I hope that you give WW another chance, because it's such a healthy plan, especially since the PointsPlus came out.

Dukan Diet
I find the Dukan Diet to be interesting! I am definately considering trying it out (phase 3 then 4) once I get to goal, since I really am looking for a stabilizing phase to help keep the pounds off, and that's something that Weight Watchers kind of lacks.

Why did it take me so long to get over this plateau. Almost two weeks.
Hmmmm.... what is your definition of "plateau"? I think mine is different. For me a plateau isn't until I've gone at least 6 weeks with no loss or gain.
