This is my January 2016 update. After about three years on this journey to be healthy I'm 65 pounds lighter and in better shape. My WOE is now easy for me as it was never a diet but a plan of eating that fits me. Diets do not work. I still have a long ways to go on the fitness and it will be a lifetime to keep that fitness and weight. I used have chronic pain and what a difference!!

I love my suspension trainer!! TRX videos on youtube are my go to's for exercise at home. My house is slowly turning into a mini gym though I also have a gym membership. I've also started ice skating again after 20+ years and I'm loving it!

This journey has changed my life in so many positive ways. It's not just a weight loss journey but one to face all your demons and in the end be a more positive person feeling good about yourself and your world.

I love to cook all kinds of natural foods and delve into many cuisines. I'm a leftover health food nut from the 70's who has always loved exploring cusines from all over the globe.

I am currently single 65 yo with 10 grandchildren (2 are steps), 3 great step great grandchildren. I spend alot of time at grandkids sports events and in the summer attending mud runs as one daughter and her husband race and fishing for catfish with another son-in-law.

I'm slowly remodeling my house and most of the year work on my yard and gardens, one of these days I'll get both so I'm happy with them. It's part of my journey to feel good about my life. I'm a professional longarm quilt artist but my little business (used to be fulltime) is on hold while I concentrate on my remodel. Hoping to get back to my passion my the end of the year.

I live with a chatty and very onery Quaker Parrot and a little girl boston terrier mix born 3-31-13 and a hound mix rescue pup born in July 2015. Both of my pup girls are very active and funny.

Natural healthy and beauty recipes/tips
A shampoo experiment: not sure how well it will work so made a smallish amount. 1/4 cup of Dr. Bonner's rose castile soap, 1/4 cup of water, 2 TBS of vegetable glycerin, 1/2 tsp of avocado oil, 1 tsp of grapeseed oil, a couple shakes each of tea tree, rosemary and lemon grass essential oils. I'm not sure yet if making a natural shampoo is more cost effective than buying one. I'll post after I try it.

Needs some tweaking as it didn't lather hardly at all. Later...

No idea on those, I was checking some sources as I have 2 teenage granddaughters who love my salt scrubs. One Mom wants to make them so sent her the info. They are so simple to make.

I have comfrey growing in my garden. It makes a nice tea but it has had some possible health issue links, though not sure anything has ever been proven one of those suspected plants. It is also very soothing to the skin for itchy rashes. I've ground it up into a paste for poison ivy/oak.

Now lavender and tea tree are also good for acne and blemishes. Teen thing and have suggested it to my DD for her teen DD who loves my sea salt scubs. No idea on the Gotu Kola and Calendula. Lots to learn here.

Nichol, I'm working on a shampoo. I tried one this week, love how it worked with my hair but too thin and runny so difficult use. So tweaking it. Will stop and get some vegetable glycerin in my travels this weekend. I found an ancient small container of it my Dad had, he died in 1999 so who knows, it could also be made from a chemical process. Time to clean out some of this old stuff.

Am out of toothpaste mix so will have to make that today. I am adding some clove oil as it is good for your teeth and gums. So salt, baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, peppermint and clove oil. Super simple and very cheap.

OK so I'm hooked lately on experimenting with essential oils. So buying one or two when I get to a natural food store. I just put some clove oil in diffusers one with just oil and clove, the other with a few drops of tea tree oil. I love the spiciness of clove. It is also good for breathing and has many cleansing properties besides smelling yummy.

I have asthma, I know Nichol does as well. I've been using a sniff or two of eucalyptus and rosemary oil instead of my rescue inhaler when I get wheezy or start my coughing from my bronchial tubes spasm's. I've added tea tree this past week, since I bought some. I also started putting a few drops in a snack size crock pot that run during the night in my bedroom. All have been proven to open up airways.

I work in a dept of mostly women and happen to be allergic to most perfumes. The juniper pollen has also appeared in high over the past week. I have had to resort to my rescue inhaler once in the past month instead of daily when at work and multiple times a day with the juniper pollen. I've also decreased my preventative Dulera to one puff twice a day instead of 2 puffs.

I'm NOT advocating playing with your meds. This is what has helped me. My doc has told me I can lessen the preventative Dulera gradually if I feel it's more than I need. She is aware that I do not like taking the steroids and I know I have to to keep breathing so we work on it together.
