blown day
I read the Book "why we are fat:and what we can do about it" By Gary Taubes. I then read his book "Good calories, Bad calories" and they both made sense to me. Seemed to be backed by real science. Yes, the first few weeks were pretty restrictive, but as I read "The New Atkins", they work hard at showing how it can be done more easily. My wife calls it the bacon and eggs diet, as that is my normal breakfast on work days. As I move on to the other stages of weight loss beyond the initiation, I add back carbs of my choosing keeping a set goal for the day. I hope to forever avoid the white breads, cereals, and soda that was my downfall. I started tracking my calories mostly for curiosity as the protein/fat content of my diet along with gobs of water seemed to keep me pretty full. Turned out I was eating well under my RDI of daily calories although the amount of calories sneaked up a bit when I started working out.

So far, it has been successful for me for a total of 2 months and 26 lbs.

Thanks for the comments and support!

blown day
messed up today and had some popcorn at the movies. Feel kinda yucky, some from guilt, some from the biggest carb load I have had in two months. The queazy feeling may keep me from breaking again!

Will keep moving on.

frustrated and quitting
Diana, Please read the book by Gary Taubes, "Why we are fat, and what we can do about it". It will explain why you are struggling to lose weight on what you are doing. It will show you that a healthy diet, with super low carbs is doable and why it makes sense. You will understand why really low calorie diets can SLOW down the metabolism and could even cause the weight gain. After the first 3-4 weeks of the movement to ketosis, then start a gentle exercise program. Exercise doesn't cause weight loss, it just makes you feel better. Then read the new atkins diet book to walk you through the stages. You will be successful, but you need to read and research it first. Good Luck!!
