salad dressing

Try Walden Farms dressings. This may help you tremendously.

Yes, they don't contain sugar, but like all products that hail 'no sugar' they have to use something to sweeten and in this case they use Splenda !! Sad Chemical vs real food??
I make my own dressing with lime juice and olive oil , simple and delicious. Smile

Cholesterol lowering foods
try drinking two tablespoons of good olive oil a day and consuming 1/3 cup of almonds. Sounds to simple to be true, but my naturopath recommended it for me and within 1 month my numbers had improved greatly. Can't hurt.....

okay, well, good luck, sounds like you've done what you can to guide him.
it's true, Dr's have maybe 4 weeks of nutrition training and really know nothing
but he should be listening to you,
Sorry, aren't close enough to use a 4 x 8 to hit him in the head with to wake him up to your needs !

best of luck

Unsupportive spouse
I'm going to play devil's advocate here and kindof give the guy a break and make a suggestion.
Maybe, if he's not had to learn about sugar counts and looking at labels, and it doesn't affect him directly in that he needs to lose weight, then just maybe he doesn't know how or understand 'why' it is important and exactly what carbs are?
If you're on low carbs then you've probably done some research and have learned how they work in your body and understand so much more.
Why is it that men can open the hood of a car, set timings, calibrate parts and torque tires but give them a load of laundry and they stand in front of a machine with only 3 dials and don't know what to do? Now before you throw rotten tomatoesShock I am talking in general here guys !
Most on here have done research and are understanding of food and calories in vs out etc.
But maybe your SO is just in the category of needing to learn?
If you're doing low carb for losing weight, then he's right, just eat less and keep to your calorie count.
If you're doing it for health reasons then he needs to be more supportive and learn how it will affect you.

Weights
Measurements are always fun Confused

Unfortunately you can't simply say 1 cup = 8 oz.It does but let me try to explain.

Picture a pound of feathers and a lb of gold. Both weigh the same but a lb of feathers may be a full green garbage bag whereas a lb of gold will only be a chunk as big as your thumb. So a lb is a lb is a lb but the volume will change with your material.

When recipes call for a cup of... whatever, that is by volume not by weight, so we use a measuring cup etc.
If they call for 8 oz, then it is by weight so it needs to be weighed.

When adding to my food intake calendar I usually weigh everything (except green salad Wink and use those calculations.

Hope this is helpfulSmile
