adding food to my food diary problems
Hi --

I spend a ridiculous amount of time navigating the options to add food. Its full of "why does it work that way?" questions.. here are some examples:

1 - Today I searched for something using "keywords" panda express (because I wasn't sure exactly what I ate, I just wanted to get close), I found something, and added, and instead of showing up as "panda express chicken chown mein" like it did in the search.. It just showed up as "panda exress", because those were the words I searched for. Why do you add it to my calendar with the words I searched for instead of what I actually added? That makes it hard for me to find and use again when I eat left overs, and it isn't very informative when I look at it later to see what I ate. Its also just very counter intuitive.

2 - I got frustrated with that method, so I tried just navigating to the panda express category, and selecting chow mein... However, from the "full details" page, It didn't give me an option to add food for yesterday. It was hard coded to today, with no drop down menu for the date. Why is that?

3 - Because the search/navigation is so hit and miss, I often end up just looking at my previous days food to find what I need for todays food.. but the problem is that when I click on the food entry, the only option I have is to MOVE that food to today, or to another meal.. There should be an option that will allow me to add that food to another meal, as opposed to just editing the one I'm looking at.

4 - Sometimes I search for things I KNOW are on the site (cholula was an example), and I can't find it, even though I know its there, because I've navigated to it before. In this case I ended up adding cholula again to the site even though it was already there, and when I started typing in Cholula it warned me there was already a similar item. Why couldn't that similar item have popped up in the food search? I've noticed this a few times. It seems like your food search doesn't index properly, or is getting hung up by funky characters maybe? (extra spaces?)

5 - My girlfriend and I are both using the site to keep track of our diet. When we make a recipe we like to add it as a recipe so we get accurate info instead of guessing. We don't want to "share" it with the communinity because we haven't taken the time/effort to write instructions for it, etc. We just want to keep track of dietary info. The problem is that even though we are "buddys" the only way for me to add one of her recipes is for me to look at food she's already eaten, and then add it to my calendar, instead of it being searchable, or at least being able to browse her recipe's. And because of number 3 above, when I eat left overs, I can't just go to my previous days food and add it to today, I have to go to HER food, and add it for toady. It also doens't show up in my recently eaten items. This is annoying on the website, but impossible to do on my android app (which is how I found hte site to begin with, and continue to use a lot!)

I'm sorry if I'm coming off as full of complaints, I really do like the site, and would take all of its flaws over not existing at all, so thank you Smile But these issues end up being very frustrating, and sometimes lead to me not wanting to deal with your site/therefore not entering in food. I know thats not what you want, so hopefully you'll incorporate some of these feature requests into one of your next releases Smile

P.S. I edited a bit for clarity, and to add some more I thought of after hitting the "Post" button Smile
