Back on plan today. I fell off plan yesterday and didn’t log anything; I guess I just wanted to pretend it didn’t happen. But, fat can’t be fooled! I log to hold myself accountable, and to be honest with myself - so I reconstructed the day. The damage wasn’t near as bad as I thought. I had lunch with folks I used to work with, we lingered for a couple hours during which I consumed two massive slices of NY Style pizza. Bad, but it could’ve been worse and the "old" me would have eaten a lot more then continued the binge for days/weeks.

I’ve been hiding from social situations and making excuses not to be around my friends because I don’t want to stray from my plan. In a strange way I feel I can take something positive from yesterday in that it makes me realize I do have the ability deal with and enjoy a social situation involving food. I need to work on being mindful and quit hiding.

14 pounds down in the last month. I’m pleasantly surprised; the scale graced me with a “good” number.

I am addicted to the scale, it dominates me. My entire mood revolves around those numbers. I try to focus on NSV’s, but the numbers on that scale still effect how well I adhere to my plan. I have predictable water weight swings, and even knowing this doesn’t soften the blow when the numbers aren’t what I hope for.

I’ve devised a method to trick myself into keeping my scale addiction in check. I use a digital/bluetooth scale and only look at my weights once a month. The scale will store my daily weights if I don’t download them to my phone. I trick myself by weighing every day without my glasses, and in the semi-dark of early morning - that way I can’t see what my weight is on that particular day. Then once a month I download the stored daily weights to my phone, and can see my last 30 daily weights. I match them to my daily food logs for comparison. As I write this it seems silly, but its the kind of mind games I have to play to keep myself on track.

In the last 30 days I lost 1 pound 14 times, I attribute this to one of the below things:
1. Went back to intermittent fasting (16/8).
2. Began experimenting with weekly calorie cycling (800/1000/1500).
3. Water weight fluctuation.

Don’t really care what worked, just glad I made a bit more progress. Onward, one pound at a time...
