Goal Weight
200.2 lb

I am a mother of two lovely girls just entering their adolescence. (So far, they still think I'm all right and haven't started rolling their eyes at everything I say.) I am recently married to the love of my life, a man who thinks I am beautiful just as I am. This has led me to stay just as I am for too long. :) I would like to lose 90 pounds, to feel better, more energetic and to live a long life with this wonderful man. I have set a seven-month goal of 60 pounds, to bring me under the 200-lb mark. I plan to do this by tracking my food, moving my body and enjoying my life.

I have lost weight before, around 80 pounds, through eating moderately and exercise. Since then, my lifestyle has changed and I no longer go to the gym, although I have taken up yoga. I have plantar fascitis (really sore feet!), which makes walking painful. I am working to correct this, as walking is a major source of everyday movement that will get me to my goal.

Anyone looking for a diet buddy?
I would love to find more FS buddies. I am looking to lose around 60 lbs slowly and steadily. I have two school-aged children, I'm in my 30s (for nine more months - ha!) and would love to hear from someone in similar circumstances.

How big were you when you met your partner?
This thread struck a chord. I was about a 16 when I met my husband and am an 18-20 now. But he has always seemed so supportive, that it just didn't matter. His unconditional appreciation of me has allowed me to relax about the whole weight thing and start doing it in a healthy way.

But I have a colleague who confessed to me last week that her husband does not feel attracted to her since she gained weight having their two children. She was a 12 and is now an 18 (like me, she's around 6' tall). Unfortunately, he refuses to have sex with her because she's put on weight. This breaks my heart. I can't imagine how much harder it would be to undertake the challenge of getting healthy if you only have that type of negative reinforcement.

What are some of your embarassing/emotional/eye opening reasons for loosing weight?
I am loving this thread. The stories, whether personal, funny or heartbreaking, are all striking a chord.

I just decided to do this because I realize that the perfect moment will never come. Never will I suddenly wake up and know another language, be able to play guitar, or have a healthy BMI. I am going to have to work for whatever I want to accomplish.

But as for what I am happy to leave behind: holding my breath while I tie up my boots, choosing a chair based on whether or not it has arms, and wrapping a towel around me after my shower before I walk in front of my husband.

What do you truly wish for yourself besides weight loss?
I have recently gotten married to a wonderful man, but I'm bummed that we didn't meet a long time ago! Also, I have two awesome girls (11 and 13) and I am really enjoying watching them become these interesting and fabulous people. So my goal is to live a long time in a healthy body so I can enjoy the next 40 or so years with my husband and daughters.

Wii Fit
I have had Wii Fit for some time and we enjoy playing it as a family. I think it's useful for a "get your butt out of the chair" activity, but less so as a real workout. Certainly the dance games make you sweat and are a buttload of fun! It is most helpful as part of my strategy to move my body at all times, rather than through prescribed exercise. For a real strength training or sustained cardio workout, it doesn't really fit the bill.

I realize the gym is intimidating - I stayed away for years because of that. But after going once or twice, the intimidation factor fell away and I really enjoyed it. I would zone out with my favourite music and I loved it. Of course, I haven't been in ages, so who am I to preach?!
