We live on an island in WA state where the lifestyle is casual and the pace a little slower than Seattle. The beach and hiking trails are at our back door. I am getting back to artwork and paints after many years. My rag doll, Mocha, passed away last year. She was my shadow for 12 years so I miss her. I enjoy gardening, reading, music/jazz, movies, photography, scrap booking, genealogy, and many other activities. Over the years I added 15 lbs and it shows. I have resolved to lose the pounds so I can be healthier and feel better. I need to limit diet to 1000-1200 calories to lose...and get out gardening and walking more often.

1200 Calories a Day
From my own knowledge of my set point between activity and calories, I also need to limit my calories to 1200 calories to lose weight. I am sure your doc knows what she is talking about. That does not seem like enough to a lot of people but they are blessed with different body chemistry. I am just 5'3". If I want to lose weight it takes planning. My sister swears to "no sugar, no carbs" and I subscribe to this though not as strict. I repeat the mantra to myself often. Carbs turn to sugar. I do best on a South Beach diet. It actually works well and I feel satisfied. If I eat sugar, I just want more. I like Weight Watchers recipes, a few are a bit high in carbs for me. I, especially like the five ingredients in 15 minutes recipes. I look for flavorful seafood or meat and a non-carb side which I set up on a plate so it looks great like the chefs). Of course, you can add salads and fruits as you wish to make a satisfying meal. Just don't think potatoes and carbs are required for every meal. Eat only one or zero pieces of bread a day. This is a healthy, common sense diet. This week I made chicken parmesan with low fat mozzerella and a small roll of spaghetti tucked under the sauce. My husband who usually fills his whole plate with pasta first, didn't even notice the limited pasta. Gotta love it! Good luck to all, we can always use a little inspiration and encouragement.

Diet Plan
Has anyone else tried the Campbell's Soup for Life diet? It is a 30 day meal plan (3 meals & snacks per day) 1200 calories. Half way through my hubby lost over 10 lbs and I have lost 4 lbs but need to cut calories a little for me. No counting anything, just buy the food at the grocery store and prepare really simple meals that are truly good. We like it lots better than a well known (purchase their food) plan. I like it because knowing me, I don't like to count, just stick to the plan and it is easy & filling (he is husky size guy and can add up to 600 cals per day). I still like WW and consider myself a subscriber.

What is the best way to collect core plan food ideas and recipes quickly? I'm trying to start on this diet but know little about it. Thank you.
