Which type of excercise WON'T you do at the gym?
I try to avoid pretty much anything that may aggravate a lower back problem or a knee I had surgery on (prob. from weight problems/lack exercise all my life).

Some people seem to swear by free weights, I don't really buy into the hype so much. I try to focus on doing a full hour on high resistance on elliptical machines due to my knee at a running pace, followed by about 45 minutes of machine weight training followed by two hours or so of moderate swimming (not a great swimmer but working at it).

Maybe that's a bit too much though..I'm trying to do it on a more consistent basis rather than these 2-3 days a week surges with about an hour of home exercise on days I don't go.

Don't know why, but I like to go at night when I can (open 24/7), the swimming pool is empty, no lines anywhere and I can just take my time doing whatever I'd like until the morning crowd rushes in and I'm off to work. It does mess up my sleep schedule though which is something I need to work on.

Hope this helps someone. Take care.

P.S.
(definitely a focus on cardio - about 3/1 ratio I suppose if your trying to lose weight - although I wouldn't leave the weights out completely...)

EA Active is soo much harder than wii fit
I've been looking into Wii exercise since they came out with Wii Fit but gave up on it after a while. Seems like it was only useful to see the routine since I'm a fitness novice and cannot afford a personal trainer.

Never got the Wii Fit plus or EA; is it worth it? (is that the one that comes with rubber bands for strength training?)

Are any of the new ones good to work out at home for 20 minutes or so?

The one BIG thing that got me real worried about those (esp. since I have a lower back injury on/off is the possibility of injuring yourself trying to complete some sequence of moves - never tried exercise tapes & I suppose you can say the same thing but this seems more engrossing since it's interactive - that you may very well do that extra 1/2in turn/slide/shift/move/etc that would injure you (even if it's slight or aggravating) just to finish the game in alloted time (just something about a 'ticking clock' I guess, maybe it's just me).

I live 15 miles from the gym I go to and sometimes just not viable. I'd love to find a Wii game that actually works well for light/moderate cardio without too much risk of injury (that hola hoop game was brutal for my back).

You guys think EA did a better job?
