This is tougher than I thought. Mom of a 28 year old who is married to a wonderful woman. They just had a son so I'm also a grandma. A long distance one, but enjoying it nonetheless. In my youth, very athletic; competitive tennis in college, horseback riding and teaching, scuba diving, biking, golf and lots of walking. Those were the not so much thin days but very fit and muscular days. Best athletic weight, about 142. Then about 25 years ago, lungs started going to crap. Allergies? Asthma? The doctors have been going back and forth on that one. So activity has greatly slowed down. AD my lungs keep getting worse, I get slower and slower. So the weight goes up. On every asthma med and shots with oxygen at night but this is it. Never thought I could get over 200 but it happened. And now this has to stop somehow. Got a new dog who loves to dash outside and take walks. Have two exercise bikes and time to use them. Have a husband who thinks I could not possibly be cuter and he's a doll. Now he's on a diet but he's still within the weight chart limts, just 15 pounds more than he likes to carry.
So Adkins it has to be.

Hang in there. Then comes the time when the hormones leave you. Menapause. Post menapause. Immediate menapause with a hysterectomy. That was my story. No suppliment hormones for me though. So just dry hair, (dry everything else) and a little tougher taking the weight off. Enjoy the flucuation. At least you have an excuse with water weight gain. Mine is just gain.

Seems to be the only one that works
Having tried just about everything out there, I have to go back to ADkins. I used it once before when working on a big construction job, the Alaskan Pipeline. They had to give us over 3000 calories a day because of the -50 temps but I worked in the office and didn't need all those calories. Adkins was easy because there was always something on the food line that I could eat. Ate lots of egg salad for lunch. Anyway, went from 168 to 138 real fast. Since then, have been able to keep weight off until all the health situations in the past 12 years. But now there seems to be an "adjusted" Adkins - not just all the meat and veggies but some introduction of carbs after a few weeks. I'm just starting but if one of you has a good book for me to check out, let me know please. It helps to have people out there who care enough to answer and check things out. Thanks
